Now that might be a waste, but if you really really want some 4K Blu-Rays....

Which ones are out?

I mean it was either $317 for the Samsung 4K Player (Which isn't a very good player itself, barebones, but only one on the market) or $299 for an XB1S with a good 4K player.

Every big movie comes out in 4K now, Ghostbusters, Suicide Squad, Warcraft, Everest, X-men: Apocalypse....

Believe we have hit that point with 4K officially, any new semi major movie will release standard on 4K BR at the same time as DVD/BR.

Edt: I hate hooking TVs up to my network. I've got issues with having complete control. Do not want more devices sending and receiving shtt out than I already do.

Also, wut?

You didn't want to connect your TV to the internet and haven't used any of the built in 4K apps this whole time?

You worried about them Govment Spies in ya tv?!?!

Owned a TV with apps since probably 2011 and have never used any of those apps once. The UI was slow enough to force me onto a Roku or Ps3 back then.

Will give it try with these new Vizios. It's just something I over look. I do hook them up to the net occasionally to check for codec updates but that is about it.

Yeah it's a different world with these TV OS's these days. Hell this Sammy has a quad core.

My LG has a quad core and it's from 2011-2012. It's probably the best out the butch, much better than my older Samsung from the same time period.

Just never gave any of them a second shot.

Yeah man new TVs absolutely fly with full OS's that do some nice shite. Crazy that years ago Smart Functions generally sucked but these days on a nice 4K set they're incredible, from the apps to the features.

Can't find what processor the 2016's use, I know the 9500 series uses a damn octacore. overkill city.

Can't wait for games to starting using HDR10, so drastic of a change for 4K viewing I can only imagine what games can do with it.

Well it's an Ocracoke but some are dedicated just to audio and video codecs decoding, etc. Not everyone is straight compute power. Instead of individual chips doing a specialized job they put them on one SKU now.

Same with phones.

Yeah I know it's a mobile processor, just wish they'd list exactly what, I want to know. Tried to Google it and can't find it anywhere.

Wonder if they get like newer modern mobile chips like a Snapdragon 810 version or something.

Given that it's Samsung I'd guess they use their own Exynos.

But point is these days they run super well and are a different game than years back. I think it was always CAD that hated smart TVs and always bashed them previously, with good reason they used to suck majorly.

So the Vulkan API made it into Android 7 Nougat. That's pretty cool, even though I never play mobile games.

LG V20 is the first device to ship with Nougat.

Sweet, didn't know multiwindow was coming standard in Nougat. Bye bye Xposed module.

You haven't tried the beta out?

I loved multitasker, but I had to get rid of the beta since Pokemon go didn't run on it

Nah, never do, I wait for my ROM to update to the official release version. Usually too many issues early on in beta and I use a lot of Xposed modules for customization, and if I had to guess Xposed doesn't work on Nougat yet or very poorly if it does at all.

Nougat looks really good though, excited for it.

It began rolling out today for those of you non rooted Android people. Check for update.

I'm so done with Pokemon Go. My feet are already killing me at the end of every day now.

So, my tech news consumption in the past week has only been skimming headlines, but is it true the HTC Marlin only has an 820? Still no confirmation of front-facing speakers, wireless charging?

No one has any clue at all right now about the internals for either version.

I have stopped the rumor mill reading until full reveal, people have no idea right now and I may not even be that interested.

"Leaked" prices are $599 and $449. Coming in Oct or Nov, rumors for both.

The SO and I will upgrade to the new Nexus phones. I'm coming from this hunk 5X to the Sailfish and she will go from the Moto X 2015 Pure Edition to Marlin.

Hope the camera is decent. HTC normally does a piss job with their cameras.

Edt: I would have got her a S7 but im just fearful of touch wiz. She doesn't want any change from stock Android.
