Gsync isn't worth it for me, I've found very limited use. I'll be upgrading to 32" 4K IPS CrossOvers probably next week.
Edt: Yes I own a Gsync Swift, its TN and the thing sucks. Still, Gsync hasn't found much of a place for me outside of very few limited titles.

That's surprising. My eyes are very sensitive to frame rate fluctuations, stuttering, and tearing. I'm guessing the 980 Tis push 144fps at 1440P pretty consistently?
I still have my sights set on getting a variable refresh monitor when I upgrade my GPUs again. Might go back to team red, but will stay with green if NVidia performance is far enough ahead (There's some indication that AMD may be refocusing on efficiency and less on trying to match the Nvidia flagship).

Hell no, not on AAA titles, but I lock frames at 70. Tearing hasn't been a real issue in a few years. Only game that have me crazy tearing was Shadow of Mordor.
Maybe I'm sour about buying into Gsync so early and getting this pos TN panel, idk. What I'm thinking now is if you have the hardware to push high frames then lock it in somewhere around 60-90 on a good panel at a resolution you want for much cheaper, go for that. I can get a 28" 4K CrossOver IPS for $359 and a 32" one for $550 off eBay. Think I'll just go the Korean route once again.
To get a Gsync monitor with the specs I would like, those things are retarded expensive.
Edt:
32" CrossOver
28" CrossOver
Not sure if its the same CrossOver ppl as years ago, but will give them another shot. When this whole 1440 Korean monitor thing took off 3-4yrs ago, I purchased 4 1440 Koreans from 3 different brands. The 2 CrossOvers where easily the better panels after some amatuer color correction on my part. I'm hoping their offering this time around will be just as good.

When you lock it in at 70, isn't g-sync still working (i.e., refreshing at 70Hz so you wouldn't see tearing)? I know I would notice tearing (depending on the the pacing of the game), but it starts to become unnoticeable at higher frame rates.
I was in Microcenter today watching a demo of freesync, and holy shite did they go overboard emphasizing the tearing on the non-freesync side

They didn't go overboard, they just showed your average ubisoft title

I use to notice tearing all the time on my rig. I don't notice it all now. It's definitely been something I loved and it would be hard to go back for me.

I got my 250 samsung evo insalled but haven't put anything on it yet. should I install the samsung magician software or is it still not important?

I like it, gives you an easy way to optimize performance and gives some SMART data as well. Super low impact app.

It looks like my mobo (asrock extreme 4 z77) has 8 SATA ports. 2 intel 3.0 ports,2 asmedia 3.0 ports, and 4 2.0 ports. My 2 ssd's will be in the intel 3.0 ports. Should my HDD be on the asmedia 3.0 or 2.0? I keep reading about the low bandwith for asmedia 3.0.
eta: from what I see HDD speeds won't change so it doesn't matter.

doesnt matter at all with a mechanical drive. only concern would be if you wanted to RAID the drive and sometimes only certain ports are capable of a hardware RAID depending on the board.

It definitely was not an ubisoft title. At no point in the demo did I see anyone climb a tower.

The division beta really held back a lot of content. There were no towers

I need air cooling options for my i7-4970k I am getting rid of this swiftech.
Posted on 2/3/16 at 7:18 pm to DoUrden
What's wrong with it?
If you want high-end air cooling that contends with the swiftech, look at the Noctua NH-D15.
