If you played DAI, Vellen is similar to the Hinterlands. People spend too much time in both places.

When I left the Novigrad/Vellen area for the first time to go to Skellige, I was upset because I didn't really want to leave. Then once I got to Skellige and saw how massive it was I spent a ridiculous amount of time exploring and sailing to all of the islands.

Hope this is not a spoiler but my bloody baron quest ended with him hanging himself pretty rough ending for him I'm sure there are other endings where he does not hang himself not sure though

For me he found his wife and took her to some far away healer, so he was gone from the game still, but not dead.

Wasn't she still a hag.

There wasn't an overly happy ending either way.

Heck, the whole world of the witcher has a pretty damn high misery index. Nothing is going right for anyone.

SPOILERS

First play-through, I killed that spirit/monster that possessed the tree in the swamps of Vellen. The outcome seemed okay. This time, I freed it and the witches were kinda pissed, but nothing seems to have changed yet. The spirit said he would save the children in the swamp, but that remains to be seen. Can't wait to see how that plays out.

I also killed Keira my first play-through. Sexed her then wrecked her. Didn't even know there was an option to have her join your team until the second time. She's holed up in the witchers' fort. I didn't sex her though. I'm going to do everything I can to dump that bitch Yen for Triss.

I do like the multiple mini-endings available.

OK, so freeing that spirit trapped in the roots of the tree turned out pretty fricked up, LOL. Gotta say that I liked that ending of the Baron quest better, though.

Definitely, but telling Yen you don't love her sucks so much worse than saying it to Triss.

That quest sucked.

You didn't do Yen's quest? It really is a pretty good one. It just sucks at the end if you don't choose Yen.

I'm getting close to the end as far as main missions go. Easily my GOTY and the only games I would probably put ahead of it all time would be the Ezio games from AC and GTA San Andreas because the overall stories were so good to me.

SPOILERS and QUESTION towards the end of the game:

Last night I found Ciri, fought the Wild Hunt and finished the mission where you kill one of the bad guys at the top of the mountain.

I'm level 30 right now (jumped up quite a few levels quickly). I've done all side missions (including ? marks) in White Orchard, the homebase, and 99% in Velen/Novigrad. Witcher Gear is all found and crafted up to the level below Mastercrafted. Still have tons of ? marks in Skellige.

I'm thinking I should bail on the story and start tackling the optional stuff in Skellige. Is there a point of no return on the Main Quests where you can't go back to the grinding activities?

After you beat the main story and the credits roll, it takes you back into the world and you can still do all available sidequests and other things. Only thing you can't do are main story missions.

Speaking of, has anyone purchased their season pass with the two extra quests? Post-main story, I didn't see much of a reason to explore beyond knocking out the 40,000 remaining "?" around Skellige. Would like some honest feedback before I throw money at them.

Thanks!

Season pass

I thought that season pass was for two DLC expansions that haven't been released yet? I read the description the other day and it said it was an additional 30 hours of gameplay so I wouldn't call them "missions".

I'm pretty sure I did, but I don't think I've ever seen anything from it.

You didn't do Yen's quest?

what part of the game is this? don't believe I have done it. Ive banged kiera or whatever her name is, and made out with triss. just got to skilliege and I guess I'm talking to Yen? I honestly skip a good bit of the dialogue unless it's really interesting. I just can't fricking stand geralt's voice actor. it's like batman with a sore throat

You are close to Yen's mission if you're in Skellige.
