Yeah, although Microsoft went about it very poorly and didn't explain anything, it could've actually benefited gamers. Sticking with the current model pretty much ensures that all new releases will be $60+ dollars for a while.

Yeah I have to say I hope they still try that model but implement it over time and show us how much better it would have been ... attract us to it in other words.

I was looking forward to the Steam model FWIW

Then on top of that, they're doing other dumb shite like blowing up Titanfall and bragging about it like it's a console exclusive.

So Titanfall is coming to the PS4?

Nah, it was mostly this. The word just spread from there to non-redditors and negatively affected Microsoft.

but if they were able to explain their thought process a bit it would have gone a long way to decrease the public outcry.

Like I said earlier, the policy wasn't wrong it's just that they failed to let the consumer in on it.

ummmm, again, whether Microsoft changed their DRM policies or not.....it's still would've been a while before a Steam Model was implemented.

Their timeframe isn't important, it's convincing the masses of customers the only way to drop prices is to eliminate the middle man getting their cut.

with their new stance....they can directly point the finger.

easy.

the ones who aren't connected to Live or have live accounts won't have that perk along with several other perks of paying for online service.

any other questions?

So developers are going to code two different versions of their game for the Xbox One?

One version that does all compute locally, and the other that does occasional compute on the servers?

I doubt they will. At least not "directly". You won't ever see MS attacking the retailers they rely on to move their products or any company in the same position for that matter.

clearly, major publishers are uncomftorable with the thought of potentially not having the 'guy with a gun over his shoulder' on their game's box coverart to help influence parents of teenagers browsing the electronics section of Target

somehow this is EAs fault

They need to retail physical copies of games at $60 and then provide downloadable versions on release day for $45. If people insist on physical copies they still have that option but you will convince most consumers of a digital model through lower prices.

Kinda what I had said ... now they can take that stance where they aren't the bad but who's going to suffer for this though.

IMO we the gamers will because it will take even longer to implement than it would have if the would have launched as is ...

I can't watch HBOGo without an internet connection to my 360, is there a different version of HBOGo that i can?

I can't play Dance Central 3 without a Kinect, is there a version that i can?

consumers will have to understand what they are buying, if not, they wasted their money.

and that is on them.

It will probably now be in game options that are only accessible via the cloud like the Forza demo at E3 showed. It will no doubt hamper the devs from putting computation off onto the cloud with the exception of multiplayer and co-op games since you are connected to play those anyway.

Really only single player campaigns will be affected.

If you want to use the term in that way, then yes.

By console exclusive, I was referring to the xbox one, and it isn't exclusive to it.

And, on top of that the developers haven't ruled out a ps4 release.

Lol, nice job, admitting your main competitor had the better model and that u were just a huge fail and admitting your main competition was more in touch with consumers.

I do applaud MS for listening though.

This is a PR nightmare.
