Question
How are the latest call of duty games on PC? Do they have many multiplayer users?
I used to play COD on computer when it was the WW2 variant. I was so much better at that version as well, I just get destroyed on my xbox now as I really suck with the controls. All this master race talk makes me want to grab a copy.

I was supporting what they were doing. Not just blindly supporting MS.
I would gladly support Sony if they were working towards a Steam model.

LULZ...you let what someone on a message board does or says affect you so much that you are emotional about it. That's sad.

I'm not the one who is admittedly emotional over anything on a message board.

BLOPS 2 on PC is just like BLOPS 2. If you love it or hate it anywhere else, PC won't change that.

Nice, my brother in law bought it for me about 6 months ago, and I just played it for the first time this past weekend.
I liked the game so far, but like I said i'm terrible with the xbox controller.
The computer version might be cool though.

Have they not been working to get there? They have done way more than MS to get all of their games digital day 1 this generation. PS+ members also get launch day sales on a lot of games. You also get a bunch of free games as a PS+ member. Then there are all the PS1 classics available for cheap. Allowing used games isn't holding back digital distribution. The lack of sales and rarely having a lower price point on digital titles is what is keeping the used game market alive. Both MS and Sony are still entirely capable of changing that.

Correct but it is holding the publishers back from lowering their prices too soon because they have to max out first party sales as much as they can due to what they lose on used games.
Even digital, PSN+, and everything you can think of, when a game on console goes on sale it is still more expensive than it is or has been on PC.
A few factors play into that but not nearly as much as used games do.
One Dev just said last night that "He has seen the number of unique gamertags vs the number of actual new games sold and it isn't good"
Publishers keep track of this and tons of other stats to determine what they can and can't afford to do. Use games will kill consoles from ever having truly massive digital sales like you find on Steam and PC in general.
PS1 games are a bad example to use because you are talking about games that are at the very least 13 years old. That's more along the lines of milking that cow that has been paid off for years a few last times before she dies.

Doesn't necessarily mean anything does it. Used to be able to make different accounts for PS3 when I got decent enough at a COD game to not ruin my score for life when i first started playing it.

They can also track it by unique IP so yes it means a lot.

Not trying to be a dick, but if he said gamertags an not IP, why would anyone infer that?
Obviously the higher that number is (gamertags as opposed to the IP's) the better it makes his argument.

To the OP, at Microsoft if true. They should lower game prices to 49.99, and hold their line. Great ideas, horriable PR.

Nice to hear that Microsoft has backed down from treating their customers like absolute dog shite. I still don't know what the frick they were thinking with all this and thinking that everyone would take simply getting fricked in the arse and ask for seconds.

It was just on twitter and he said he can't get into too many details due to NDA agreements.
Would you want to be the one to let people in on how much publishers track them on the heels of this NSA stuff?

Sure gamertags will be higher but talking semantics isn't going to change that publishers see and use this data to track a games performance and as he said "it isn't good"
I would also be surprised if the amount of unique gamertags was even close to being 10-20% higher over unique IP addresses. Not everyone cares about their CoD score so much to use different gamertags and not everyone plays multiplayer even on games that offer it. Plenty play the campaign and that's it. You are also forgetting this number is trackable on purely single player games as well. Who is going to switch to a different gamertag to finish a campaign?

Seems like a decent option when it's free.
Active Gold accounts are a good indicator of unique users.

That was simply an example of one scenario. Forgot your gamer tag? (We're talking about young kids alot of the times) Simply make a new one. I think your estimate of 10-20 is quite low. Thanks for clearing up the other portion though.
