jesus, I swear I'd get 10 coins be in second place then shell shell lightning I'm at 0 coins and in 10th place...every fricking race.

Would be nice to keep track of everyone's stats if possible over time...number of 1st place finishes, times for specific courses, etc. maybe with DLC? Still enjoyable though. Although no one is gonna touch the black dude, whoever that was...L'something. Don't see him on the list.

No fair, I felt this was me. Good start every race, then boom...10th place no coins finish 9-12

That was me... I was surprised at how much I was dominating, although toward the end you guys started to beat me. When you all get better though it will be more competitive.
I have been in other tournaments where I was getting my arse kicked and finishing at the bottom almost every race.

that was my first real experience with online play. I think I did like 2 races previously. I was seriously falling off on courses that I've never fallen off of...it felt like my kart was faster than it is in One Player against the CPU. Also- those CPU's are a bunch of bastards on Hard mode.
all bitching aside...it was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to more of these with everyone. Once we all get better at online play, we need to form up a TD clan for team races and shite

Honestly I think the best way to get better is to learn the layout of the tracks, that way you can anticipate turns so you can master the right racing lines. I am still trying to get all the new tracks down in their layouts but I have all of the retro ones down.
I agree about the COM though. On Royal Raceway I had the COM Daisy take me out with a shell over the jump on the 3rd lap. She was out ahead and was going to win but I hit her with a Bob-Omb right at the finish line and won. Unfortunately I had all 6 of my favorite slots used up so I couldn't save the replay

So is there a #1 and a #2 tournament group...how does it split/calculate everything....strange.

I think #2 could mean it's the 2nd round of races? I'm not really sure to be honest.

Yeah, he's clearly the best at this point. I was second when I left, but he was honestly in another league. I think strategizing with the coins is a big factor, since I've never played a Mariokart where I had to do that. I'll catch up.

Agreed. I was in like 9th at Mario Circuit, and then found a shortcut I didn't know about and somehow got in 3rd pretty instantly. I'll for sure be using that one in the future. May spend the next week in Time Trial just trying to master the layouts of these stages.

What's everyone progress offline? I've got Gold on all 150cc Cups, but only one is 3-star. I've done a few of the mirror cups. I've got 1500 coins I believe, so I still have parts to unlock.

I got disconnected when I was in 1st place as I rounded the last turn on Electrodome. That sucked

Item rape in single player Grand Prix especially Mirror is difficult to overcome
I can lead an entire race then get blue shelled red shelled boomeranged and then hit by a stray green shell bouncing around all at the end and get 5th. It's hard enough to get Top 3 each race which is what you need for a 1-star
