You definitely can. I just want to see if I can take down any of the optional bosses, etc. and grab some other gear for the hell of it first.

Yeah I get sidetracked sometimes just looking around for shite, trying to get more hacksilver or materials, hp, etc.
It seems the only way to level up completely though is just by playing the story

It’s not open world thank god. It’s the best type - open/linear hybrid with hubs. Way more games need to go that route.

I just started Demon's Souls before this came out and the hub/world's are very similar.
More games should try this route. Open world works for some games, but it's getting stale and this game shows that if you use the hub system in 2018 it can still be a top game

It’s very difficult to deliver an engaging narrative via open world structure.
Too much freedom can be a bad thing.
Some games lend themselves very well to open world but that style of storytelling/gameplay shouldn’t be as widespread as it is.
I am loving this game. It could very well be the best game of this generation for me.

It'll take a lot to top Bloodborne for me, but I absolutely love it so far.

I’m so addicted to fromsoft soulsborne games that I keep them on a separate rating scale from all other games, simply out of fairness.
I’m glad that fromsoft appears to be taking a break, but I sincerely hope that genre doesn’t die.

Got the dwarvin armor set last night. Should I go after the loot in the fog/gas realm next or the fire realm? I also have 1 dragon left somewhere and haven't killed any valkyries yet. GoW endgame. I like it.
