Amazon Japan had both models in stock last night. It's actually cheaper to import a Switch from Amazon Japan with shipping than it is getting it here in the US. I've ordered a PS Vita, accessories, etc from there and shipping is super fast. Like 2-3 days fast.

I pre-ordered last night as a backup if my Best Buy pre-order somehow gets cancelled. It cost $276. With shipping & all the total was $295, so under MSRP here in the states.

A couple of new ARMS trailers.

Translation of one of them:

Arms weapons

Fire Punch: You can make it light up with fire by charging your punch / opponent catches on fire if hit, and they'll always fall down

Big Punch: A big and slow punch / If you charge it, it becomes bigger and also deflects opponents punches

Thunder Punch: can charge your punch to have a electric punch / opponent cant move for a bit if hit, can combo into a throw

Boomerang: Can curve a lot more / You can charge it to have a wind effect that makes the opponent fly

Revolver: 3 punches with one "Swing" / can stun opponents if charged / easly deflected by enemy punches so be careful

Salamander: Attackes like a whip / chan charge your punch to light it up with fire -> more damage

Characters

Spring guy: can deflect atacks after dodging, when his HP is low his attack goes up

Ribbon girl: can jump multiple times in air, can also fall down quickly

Ninja guy: disappears(warps) when dodging mid-air, can also "warp" after his guard

Mummy guy: doesnt get stunned while running, jumping, and attacking / Heals while guarding

Mechanica : Can hover mid-air, doesnt get stunned (same as mummy)

Game's looking interesting. I'm not that big into fighting games but I might pick this one up. I believe they've said that they have more characters and game modes to reveal in the coming weeks.

Arms is looking better and better. I'm pumped.

Still waiting for some kind of VC/eShop announcement prior to release. With such a thin lineup available, they better have a good bit of retro/VC gaming available.

GC stuff at release would be fantastic. Sega Soccer Slam? Skies of Arcadia? Metroid Prime?

there are articles discussing rumors from previously accurate and reliable sources saying this will be revealed next week, but i'm not sure it will be up and running at release. no browser, no video apps...just seems like those kinds of things are coming later which is a little disappointing but totally fine as I'll spend at least 3 months on Zelda from the look of things.

those same rumors say they're announcing Metroid at E3...no mention of prime but the end of the 3ds game released last year really seems like a Metroid prime teaser to me

Do I buy a Switch or do I just play Breath of the Wild on the WiiU?

Eh, no one can tell you what to buy, but I'm actually feeling better and better about the potential. Lots of developer comments about it being "the easiest platform to develop for." Lots of confirmation around those ideas of porting. I mean in the end it really depends on support, right? It needs to fulfill some set of requirements (specifically software) for you to buy it? Or is it just Zelda.

Digging into success and support, It was recently said that it took 1 week to port a particular PC game over. That could be huge.

If the Switch can do the following, I think it's going to hit the coveted WiiU+3DS sales figure that would make it a completely successful console:

1) Be a good source of first party Nintendo Games
2) Get all Major Indie Games
3) Have a robust VC offering of first and third party games
4) Have Quality Third Party Support, not necessarily AAA games

I think most Nintendo fans would be fairly satisfied here, and I don't think AAA third party support is necessary if it can attract Nintendo 1st party+all of the major indie games like Stardew, Yookoo Laylee, etc. However, I think it will solidly succeed if the following happen:

5) Nintendo follows through and starts to release two types of games on the system - Console-styled large scale AAA games, Handheld styled smaller games. Two pricing tiers
6) Be good enough, or easy enough, for AAA 3rd Party Ports

100 million is probably a fair goal if they hit everything out of the park. I think Nintendo is tracking well for 1-3, with 4 in play if it takes off quickly. If that happens, Nintendo will consolidate console lines to this, no question. 6, I'm not sure it is necessary if Indie support is super strong.

There's a huge benefit here for people with portability and ease of use and access. I'd almost ALWAYS buy in indie title on the Switch from now on if it gets that level of support. It might be the first time I actually buy Minecraft. Why would you buy an indie on any other console, unless the indie was multiplayer specific?

If you're only buying it to play Zelda and aren't excited about any of the other games I would buy the Wii U version. The portability aspect fits into my life really well and means I can play more video games

It's the AAA portability of Nintendo first party that's the kicker. I haven't owned a Nintendo handheld console since the DS, and even that i didn't play much. Because it seemed I only played when I was away from the house. I just can't get up with playing handheld style games at home. They were useful for gaming on the go, so it all depended on how much time I was out of the house and available.

I intend to bring the Switch when I travel and it feels different; and be able to have any of those games experiences anywhere I am? That's a big difference maker.

I think the selling point beside the first party titles (and Zelda is on Wii U)

1. Portability (there is mass appeal because there are so many ways the portability concept fits into the lives of different types of people)
2. Ways you can play
3. Local multiplayer

Bottom line though is if the portability aspect isn't exciting to you or you're meh on it...I'd wait to buy or just not buy

Breesus had a post maybe on this page or the one before that's just one example of why I think this will be a big seller. There's so many ways the portability aspect is appealing

Agree. It's the big gamble, sacrificing pure power for portability, but if it can pay off huge if they play it right.

I would be extremely torn on buying this for a second time b/c I know I'd probably stop playing it one a Mario Strikers came out. It was fun as hell back in the day though.
