Almost do or die for Nintendo.
People said this when the N64 and Wii came out. Nintendo is in no danger of going bankrupt. All they have to do to sell the console is have Mario and Zelda. The rest is icing on the cake.

They're definitely losing money somewhere...

Did you read the link?

quote:

noting a ¥24.5 billion ($232 million) loss compared to $78.7 million in profit during the same quarter in 2015. Sales for the quarter came to ?¥61.7 billion ($585 million), down 31% year-over-year

They made 61 billion yen - and the loss can be attributed to:

quote:

As GI.biz notes, some of the loss could also be attributed to R&D for the Nintendo NX, which is set for release in March 2017

They announced a new portable system and console, and:

down 31% year-over-year

Was the only drop they had... That's really not that bad, and your post makes no sense against who you were responding to with this new information

I know they've already rumored that the Gamecube would become a part of the Switch's virtual console, but I wonder if they go even further and start getting into Wii territory?

I think having BOTW as a launch title and an extensive virtual library could bide their time for the rest of the exclusives

Would be great, but too many games relied on motion controls for me to get really excited. There are a handful of Wii games that would be worth it though. Particularly the Galaxies, Fire Emblem, etc.

I'm really looking forward to GC though, so much good stuff there.

As much as we want to look forward, Nintendo's back catalog is a huge asset. They've been so protective in the past, but if they come out of the gate with 10-15 AAA titles from every system, that would be killer.

That and single purchase licenses/real online identity history.

This is all they need to do to get my money in perpetuity.

They would probably be the only company I'd be willing to do a streaming gaming service where I can't even download or own the games physically.

I think they should match Xbox Live, which really is a brilliant service. $10 a month, a couple of free games among the released games.

And my money goes to supporting a growing infrastructure.

If they made the back catalog huge, I'd be willing to pay $15/month just for that.

I will play the shite out of Super Mario Sunshine. It's my second favorite Mario behind Super Mario Galaxy 1

I can't put it above either Galaxy, but it's WAY better than people give it credit for.

I love Sunshine

Super Mario 64 bores me to tears. I don't get the love. I am guessing most of the Super Mario 64 love is because of nostalgia and that it was the only N64 game out for a while so you had no choice but to like it.

Bought it for the DS 10 years ago and Virtual Console and not a fan of either version.
