Lunar the Silver Star on sega cd. It's had like a dozen remakes, but this was the original. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I mostly owe my love of jrpgs to this game

Most recently I've been playing dragon quest 8. It's a similar experience.

I've played both Lunars for PS1, but never played the original Sega CD versions. I hope to run across them eventually at a decent price.

I can't remember if Jedi Knight II was well reviewed, but i loved it. The integration of the force powers as the game went on was fantastic.

So in love with this game. Wish I could have gotten into the sequel. Just a lot of fun and full of personality.

This would be a re-release I could really get behind.

Was only ever able to play it on a Demo disk (back in the days when Demo disks included with your video game magazine subscriptions) because I was never able to find the game in stores.

Sleeping Dogs. One of my favorite games of all time. Gameplay is really fun and the story is top notch.

I always wanted an open world game with the hand to hand combat to be that good. I loved kicking the shite out of people, breaking arms and legs. Limited gun play was a big plus.

And the DLC that came out was also top notch. Especially the Bruce Lee island of death pack.

if I discount the 8 and 16 bit generations because they're so many titles to consider that qualify, this becomes pretty hard

I'll counter with Secret of Evermore. Mana was covered a lot more in gaming magazines back then than Evermore. I've always liked SoE better.
