MKX Initial Reactions/Impressions Thread (SPOILERS)

I know there's another thread but whatever.
First off, I have to warn PC gamers that if you don't have better than average hardware relative to the recommended specs...you're in trouble. This game is video card HEAVY and really needs some juice. When they lose in a match and fall down, it's like they're doing the robot that it's so laggy. But that's all that.
They spent some serious cash on this game and it shows. The voice acting is great, the action scenes are SUPERB, and the writing is as cheesy as ever (in a good way). I got to say though, Johnny Cage is a bonafide badass. For some reason in the first chapter, Scorpion and Sub Zero can take out 3-4 helicopters, hordes of soldiers, AND Sonya, but when they both fight Johnny Cage at the same time they get their asses handed to them.
So yeah, I'm on the 3rd chapter so far. Had some issues with it when it came out for PC (of course) so I only recently got to play it. What do y'all think? I love it but it takes some getting used to. They totally canned the previous control scheme mins a few attacks though. And the fatalities have reverted back to their ridiculous MK1-MK2 days.

I played the Klassic Tower and I enjoyed it. It's taking me a minute to get the Kombos down. Right now I'm focusing on getting good with Sub-Zero. I joined the Lin Quei faction when I booted up.

Johnny Cage takes down Shinnok at the end of chapter 1.
The good thing about this game is that they finally show how truly nasty of a villain Shinnok really is and not that pussy version in MK4.
Think about it this way: Shinnok is basically the Elder God of death. He took down Raiden and Fujin rather easily, but it took a descendant of a Mediterranean war cult bred specifically to confront Shinnok in order to defeat him.
Shinnok is THE big bad of the Mortal Kombat story. Not Shang Tsung, not Shao Kahn, not Onaga...SHINNOK.
You'll see what I mean when you finish the game.

What's your specs and settings? Curious if I can run this at 4K/60fps.

There are some genres where I have no idea why people buy them on PC. Then they get angry because they spent $60 on a poorly optimized console port.
I mean, I would buy this on Steam Sale when it hits $19.99 or lower, but if I'm paying full price for a fighting game, it's going to be on console.

Well, it's working great for me. I have it running in 4K DSR with FXAA and everything else maxed out, getting 60FPS with about 80% GPU usage on a single GTX 980. Given that, I reckon a GTX 970/R9-290/R9-290X could do it too. Seems to be optimized just fine.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse was the first fighting game I've ever spent $60 on and I don't regret it at all. However, that game was an RPG first, fighting second.
I probably won't touch this until a price drop.

Oh yeah, I'll add that I just downloaded a torrent to try it out. I probably won't buy it because fighting games grow stale for me after a few days. Even Xenoverse (which I bought) went from super fun to "I'm done" once I beat all of the PQs and story.

I enjoyed it while I enjoyed it, but it had zero replayability. I didn't even play online, so I could've just pirated it.

I felt like they could've done more with the time travel concept. Instead, the storyline was borderline incomprehensible to anyone not a fan of the show. Even if you are a fan, the alternate history cutscenes are too few and too brief.

How are guys this good at a game already? There was a guy on King of the Hill who was still going strong at 60 wins in a row before I finally gave up. The game released just days ago and was pulling off 20 hit combos with Erron Black
