I'm not big on lore but I don't know where this is going.
I have a motherbase full of kids and people spreading aids everywhere. And a zoo.

So all of the re-play missions are optional? You dont have to replay them to open up new missions and continue the story right?
Posted on 10/2/15 at 1:02 pm to ThuperThumpin
Anything that says REPLAY are just main missions you can redo for the normal rewards and whatnot. Anything that says TOTAL STEALTH or EXTREME or SUBSISTENCE are old missions with a higher difficulty or some restrictions that make the mission harder.
You will have to play through some of those last two mission types in Chapter 2 before it will open up new story missions. The only exceptions are missions 47, 48, 49, and 50. These are completely optional and do not add anything further to the story. Effectively, the story is done after mission 46.

Pretty interesting article about the game being unfinished: LINK
I don't agree with the thesis, mind you, but he makes some some solid points. Don't read if you haven't finished the game.

Interesting take, but I disagree as well

Game is unfinished and that's a fact. Whether one wants to give that deep meaning in whatever form is up to that person. The issue the author doesn't address is this game was billed as "completes the saga" and "men become demons". The promotion for this game was significantly different than the final form.
That said, I can appreciate where the writer is coming from. We got the fan-serviced mess that was MGS4. That game is proof positive some questions are better left unanswered and to the imagination.

Just bought this game. I have to say, crawling along the floor to escape may be the dumbest start to a game ever.
HOLY shite!
GIANT FIRE WHALE AND MFING FIRE PEGASUS!
So, for those of you who have played MGS games, is this crazy shite normal or has this game jumped the shark from the get go?

Crazy shite is normal, but the opening is a little crazier than most other MGS moments.

I like the game but I keep getting random glitches where the audio freezes for a few seconds and for those few seconds I am stuck moving in whatever direction I happen to be moving in.

XBone? There have been many reports of issues regarding sound distortion and loss of control. Hard reset seems to help, but not solve it.
Here's the best explanation I've seen about your problem. Should be getting patched, just don't know when...
"Being open world, the game has to stream data to the RAM so it appears to be this massive world you're running around in. What it really is, though, is line of sight objects. So in other words, when you're looking at that building with the truck in front of it and the other object behind, those don't actually exist as you see them. All the game really renders is what you see. So just the one side of the building, just the one side of the other object, etc. Doing that cuts down on the amount of objects that have to be rendered, and the technical term for this is occlusion culling. Normally, middleware tech like Umbra 3 handles this task, but since Konami (or Kojima, really) built the Fox Engine, it most likely has its own way of processing that info, since there's no real middleware tags at the beginning of the game. Unless they paid extra for a clean opening.
Anyway, what's happening when you get stuck moving is that you've input the direction right as it has started stuttering trying to render the image you're seeing
So basically your input in the controller is continuous at that moment, akin to holding the direction down as it's loading that second. It's the price we pay for such a beautifully detailed world that taxes the processor within an inch of its life."

Yeah, that blows. On my PS4, not a single problem. On my PC, game has crashed 3 or 4 times.

Yea but when you realize you will spend 75% of the rest of the game crawling, you get why they forced it in the opener.
I love this game FWIW. Just got diamond dog and quiet.

Yeah the opening is annoying as shite
After that it gets awesome

Quiet is a beast, but the game doesn't explain exactly all you can do with her.
For instance, open your map and you can select Quiet to "Scout" the main areas and outposts. However, there are some missions and side ops that aren't near those areas. For a while, I figured I just couldn't use her there. But, there's also a option called "Attack". You can position Quiet in a ton of sniping areas where she can spot enemies and assist as required. It's misleading because she won't actually attack unless you get spotted or you command her to fire or cover you. Once I figured that out, she became much more valuable.
DD is easily the best, though, except for when I'm trying to kick guards awake to interrogate them and he walks right into my kicking motion..."bond decreased"...as I KO him. LOL. That or sometimes I plant C4, walk away, and detonate. Then I realize DD is still standing near the C4.

I love DD. You eventually can get him to wear a fulton outfit and can command him to fultion people around that are knocked out. It doesn't work perfectly but when it does its cool to let him do it while you focus on other things.
