Think about if these Madden and NCAA franchises were still alive and the internet was a bigger part of gaming.

You'd buy the game and pay a subscription to get all the new franchise/school players, and their stats each year. As well as updated in returning players.

That would have been the way to go, but to have people shell out $60 a year for the same game with a slightly different gimmick and stats is what killed them all.

It's funny how everyone spent so much time bitching about how "shitty" the NCAA football game was and now that it's gone, everyone is sad about it.

ETA: Just get the latest version and download updated rosters. I'm sure there are groups out there who made new rosters for this season.

Uhh Madden and the other sports games are still thriving whether you're not buying them or not

NCAA never sold as we as Madden. That's what a lot of people don't understand. NCAA wasn't a big seller.

Relatively it may not have been a big seller but it still sold a ton of copies.

Comparing its sales to Madden means nothing to me

Of course it means nothing to you but it does to ea and they are making the business decisions. Add the legal issues and I get why it's gone.

The ONLY reason its gone is bc of the legal issues. Because the society we live in now will try to make a buck off of anything possible.

Oh, I'm sure there is new rosters because people still want to play the game. However, it doesn't do any good to a person with a ps4 since the game wasn't made on it. One game on ps4 before they stopped selling and I would be good.

It cost EA practically nothing to pump out the same game every year. Let interns update the rosters (usually badly), sell a few hundred thousand copies and profit.

Would love a college game, but not from EA

This is why it left but if it was a huge money maker they would have brought it back in some form by now

This issue with this is it doesn't work on the current gen and they never made one for current gen.

Some of us traded in our last gen stuff to help pay for current gen having no idea the NCAA/no backward compatibility thing would happen

You could always go the PES route. Make a college football game, have all the trademarked stuff removed, but let it be incredibly editable, so that people can make things real.

So maybe you'd have a team called the Coonass State University Corndogs, with colors in a similar shade of purple, gold, and white. Maybe they belong to a "league" called the "Hillbilly Bumfricks Division" with other notable teams such as the University of Gump Red-Orange Algae and the University of Peninsula Jorts. Maybe they play in a stadium with unique architecture that mimics a stadium in Louisiana.

Madden is actually a realistic NFL game, but it would do a shite job of portraying College games, where amping the team by motivating the crowd is massive. Where rivalry games and profanities chanted by student sections mean so much. Hell, PES does a fantastic job of putting in realistic crowds and traveling fans. A good college football game should have a half empty CSU Corndog Stadium by the mid point of the third quarter.

Just as an alternative to madden, it would kill in sales right nownif they would put out a new football game. Especially college.

I mean, they WERE profiting off people without paying them...

They really pushed it including throwback teams and using player likenesses 20 years after they graduated.

But I agree, it does suck something hasn't been worked out to get new games.

Its as easy as getting every team on board, and totally randomizing every player, but keep the option to edit players.

Even if they can get some teams on board, then make a sharing community and people will make the schools to share. It really is an easy loophole, why they havent done it is beyond me.
