I have no problem putting it together. My last one was built by my father-in-law, but I've replaced parts, installed hdd, etc. The only thing I haven't done is seat a cpu.

This one is to keep my teenager off my laptop and be able to keep an eye on her while she Skypes and plays on the computer. Also, so she can watch movies (blu-rays and dvds) while the little one watches Netflix on the main tv.

If you see any room for improvement, let me know. I think my price point is going to be $500 (tax & shipping included) from here on out. I tried $300, but that was too low. I would like to pull the trigger later this week.

this EVGA 650TI for $119 after rebates should satisfy all your Day-Z recording needs

Recording is more CPU intensive, the video card doesn't make that big of difference while recording

right. think an OC'd unlocked AMD 6-core 3.3 up to 3.9 ghz would do the trick coupled with that? 8 gb system ram?

i dont know the finer intracicies of recording reqs

I think the fx-6300 would work very well. I'm not familiar with the 650 ti so I can't comment there

heck, to be honest, for what you are needing your computer to do, im not seeing any drawbacks to this bundle for $233 after MIR

Phenom 2.8 ghz instead of >3.0 ghz. But that comes with 8GB ram and a extra drive though. and a 1 terrbyte hdd.

LINK

same bundle but with a 1 tb hdd
LINK

would need a cheap gfx card though so the APU build would have an advantage

At one point I forgot what this thread was originally about reading all this. What's up with Jeff and blitz? Who is building what?

Blu-ray drive is a necessity.

blitz and i have been discussing a build thru backchannels and while searching for this gentleman i found what i consider to be a decent deal for blitzed.

Anyways, i have no experience with APUs. Ive always setup CPU + GPU so i cant say for certain if a 2.8 ghz cpu/mobo + 30 dolla gfx card would outperform an all in one APU relative to the cost.

right. you linked a few burners but mentioned in the OP you only need Read. Do you need to be able to Write or is the price difference between reading and writing blu ray negligable enough you dont care?

Back channels? That does not satisfy my pc build thread cravings.
FYI pcpartpicker has forums now but they get about 1 post per day.

2.7 ghz AMD Phenom APU with Mobo for $89.90

LINK

4gb system ram $22

LINK

1 TB HDD $60

LINK

Case $40
LINK

450 psu $48
LINK

$270, before $20 in MIRs

Your choice of blu ray drive.

Grand total, $350 from tigerdirect using the above, assuming $60-80 on a blu ray drive

Just brief researching shows the price to be negligible. I'm off to sleep, got work in the morning. I'll check back tomorrow, thx.
