looks like you could save <$5 if you signed up on another site LINK , which isnt a big deal.
Corsair is solid, reviews are good, SLI ready... looks great to me for a gaming rig

I will be adding a 2nd 7950 so I need crossfire not SLI, but I assume this would handle that.

Wait for the seasonic x850 or x750 to go on sale. The x850 was just on sale a wweek or 2 ago for $109.99 and it's hands down one of the best PSUs on the market

I always seem to miss the sales on those, I will wait and hopefully find one on sale.

yeah, same thing, just different manufacturers/naming
Posted on 2/18/13 at 8:09 pm to jefforize
Corsairs are solid, but they are usually overpriced for the same PSU as seasonic. Especially that one you and DoUrden linked, not worth $100

dont forget to budget a monitor and an operating system.
another $200 unless you go used/pirated
if that # becomes too high, you can drop down a grade in motherboard/cpu

Thanks, but I have a monitor from my other dead desktop and a copy of Win 7 64 bit.

ill put together a build, submit it to the gaming board for scrutiny and ridicule, it will be revised, and we will find the best deals on the interwebz. all for you

superb. barebones kits dont come put together, you comftorable with that?
in the meantime, gonna browse some deals related to your baseline and see if we can save any $ anywhere...
as long as the owner of this potential computer doesnt plan on doing any gaming or engineering or video editing, it looks fine.

i cant decide what to do about Solid State Drives
You don't need one
But they are oh so nice
Basically an additional $80-$160 for a signifigant, but not neccesary, performance boost.
For most builds they are a no brainer but for a penny pinching budget gaming rig... i just dont know.
Also im going to pirate windows7. frick it

I need to run Day Z fa sho. I do not plan on playing any shooters on it as of this point, but possibly in the future. I may not go next gen.
Posted on 2/18/13 at 8:39 pm to jefforize
But i also need to record jeff ..with out to much lag or whatever.
Posted on 2/18/13 at 8:44 pm to Blitzed
Got ya. My build from last May actually runs Day Z pretty well. DayZ is a shooter btw. but i know what you mean. Not a fast paced gfx intensive shooter that bogs down a machine
eta: this EVGA 650TI for $119 after rebates should satisfy all your Day-Z recording needs unless one of the OCD-types here finds something better
