6 year old just started it on switch and man what a game.

It’s the best game in the franchise IMO of the platformers.

The music is outstanding and the first time you jump from planet to planet it’s incredible. It’s the most thematic of the games IMO.

Man what a game, little man loves it. Likes it better than Odyssey.

It’s an incredible game. The game play, the level design and the score are all top notch. Just playing with the physics of the different levels is enjoyable all by itself.

Only Mario game I have ever beaten funny enough, got hooked on it and played every night after work for a week. Great game. Did Mario Galaxy 2 live up to the original?

Weirdly enough, the only major Mario games I've yet to play are Galaxy 1 and 2. No clue why, but everyone says they're amazing.

From a pure gameplay perspective, 2 is actually superior.

But Galaxy 1 has a better story and more cohesiveness. Both are amazing.

I love both Galaxy games so much. Favorite games on the Wii.

Literally the only mario game I actually hate.

Feels so slow to me :/ The other 3D Mario’s all have a sense of freedom I don’t get with the Galaxy games.

2nd Best. Galaxy 2 is even better, which is saying something.

There is less open world freedom, but the pure gameplay and level design are the best we've probably ever seen in the series, and most likely in all of video game history.

I still think Galaxy 1/2's design is superior to Odyssey.

Galaxy 1 is incredible. I 100% it and am currently doing it again. Galaxy 2 was great but it didn't grab me like the first one did. The story (Roselinas back story mainly) kept me engaged and wanting to get to the next chapter. I also really loved the comet observatory overworld.

Mario Galaxy 2 has great gameplay but the overworld and story were "meh"

I'll second that Mario Galaxy 2 is better than 1, though both are the best 3D Mario games in the series. I found MG1's story charming, but I don't really play Mario games for their narratives. I prefer MG2's more traditional overworld map to MG1's hub/spaceship because it allows me to get in and out of levels much faster. I also think MG2's levels are just more fun and a bit better designed than MG1's.

MG1 only beats MG2 for me in terms of it's more consistent level themes. The themes of each MG2 stage are kind of all over the place, which makes it feel a little like a DLC level pack at times.

That’s because MG2 was initially planned as an expansion pack/DLC for MG, but they kept on coming up with so many crazy ideas they just said frick it let’s make a full fledged sequel.
