How long until Steam implodes?

Nevermind the fact that they're going full retard by allowing mods to be sold and taking 75% of the money, Gabe seems to be losing interest and as a whole they just seem to be on a downward spiral and show no signs of returning to the right direction. When does the straw break the camel's back? Will the community eat it from the inside over the mods or will it require something else? Possibly Gabe selling the company?

Overreaction much?
Steam isn't going anywhere.

It's human nature to frick up a good thing that goes on long enough.

Seriously though Steam has another quality control problem on their hands that they don't seem prepared for. For all the good things they offer, they offer a lot of shite too.

*Edit: I'm a moron

It'll blow over. While I strongly believe this is a seriously harmful thing Valve has done, gamers suck at picking battles. The outrage blends in with everything else and will just fizzle out. What are we going to do, boycott Steam?
Do the paid mod listings allow comments? That might help calm people down. Just bash the hell out of stolen mods and/or post links to free alternatives on Nexus.

Of course it will blow over, there are no better options. GOG is taking forever to roll out their service and I doubt it will ever really catch on because publishers won't want to release new games without DRM. It was only a matter of time before Steam went from hero to enemy though.

And he's dodging most of the important questions.

What makes you say this?

Again, why do you say this? The only negative thing I've seen about them is the recent mod thing.

Holy hell, I hate trying to read that site.

They recently got rated worst customer service by something I remember seeing.

Exactly. It's like the idiots saying they were going to boycott pre-ordering. If there's special content that someone wants, they're going to pre-order and then blame it on other people not boycotting. People saying they will never use Steam again or saying "frick Gaben" crack me up.

I certainly won't be buying anything through them again and I don't think that's that absurd to be honest. They are becoming the digital distribution equivalent of EA. Too much money grubbing for me to be a part of it.
I'll still use the service because I've invested too much money to not play the games I've already bought, but they won't be seeing any new money from me again.
