Cod is typically more face paced. There is some cheese. Quick scoping and such
Battlefield is bigger maps. Destructible environments. Vehicles. Just more stuff overall.
Both are fun if you have a group of friends. Both suck if you don't.

Guess I'll weigh in on this.....
I'm with Anti on this one. I've probably dumped 20+ days of total time into each COD title since COD4. As each title passes, the franchise dies a bit more, despite breaking the previous year's sales record. Why? Because with each title, we not only get a carbon copy of the previous title but the multiplayer gameplay is furuther tapered towards gaining a bigger following/audience each year. It's become less and less about shot placement, accuracy, gun selection, team tactics, and situational awareness....so that everyone from lvl 1 can have a level playing field with experienced COD players. Which is infuriating to someone who has dumped countless hours into COD. The 'everyone gets a trophy' mentatility has killed the COD franchise.
A small example of that is how everyone from lvl 1 has access game changing explosives or over powered shotguns. These type of weapons can be spammed by less talented players to overcome more experienced players' advantage.
So to all my LESI brethren: I'm not getting Ghost. I couldn't possibly be tricked into it again. I'll be on BF4 and hope to see you there once you realize Ghost is another abomination of the COD franchise we all once knew and loved.
ETA: I will say this. To dominate COD lobbies on a regular basis, there is a great deal of teamwork involved. So to say that BF4 takes more teamwork than COD, that's complete nonsense. I've never played with a group outside of LESI, minus VTG, that communicates as efficiently as LESI.
