They deserve what they got but let's be real about how hollow their threats were.

It was still a threat. You can't pick and choose which ones are worse than others if you want to stick to your guns of taking all threats on the internet as serious.

there are two possible outcomes to this situation:
A) I get a mildly inconveniencing exchange with some stranger I will never meet.
B) We regulate the frick out of the internet and it becomes a caricature of itself because I'm an oversensitive pussy.

again, you cant equate the so called war on drugs with continuing to allow people to have the "right" to constantly harass people with death threats, rape etc w/o repercussions.

I'm just saying it wouldn't work. Not that people should have the right to harass people. But if they make laws to stop this, then it's going to take away certain freedoms that don't hurt people. And I can't support that.

It is illegal and punishable but no way you can follow up on every stupid arse that tweets that out to someone.
It's also the classic bully scenario of if you ignore these guys then 99% of them go away. The issue is that the Zoe chick and Annita whatever her name didn't ignore it and they are patient zero for this stupid shite and others on both sides have jumped on board.
In fact, I would say that Anita chick intentionally keeps it stirred up so she has some sort of importance and has capitalized on it a lot. I bet she is making 6 figures off of interviews and speaking at all these conferences. Without keeping the controversy going she is a nobody again.
