What is your preferred MOBA?

I prefer LoL, but don't have a reason for liking it over the other MOBA's.

It was just the first one I started playing. I've invested so much time and money into it (and love it), I just don't see the point in doing the same for another one right now.

Honestly, had I played one of the other titles first, I probably would have liked it better. I just happened to pick League.

Smite

Console compatible, less outside-of-match influences on capabilities/stats (although it's been awhile from LoL so I don't know if they've kept that system), and shorter modes than DOTA.

Generally LoL and HotS. I really actually love LoL in a lot of respects, but the match length is a big thing for me.

HotS matches much more fit my usual play she duke, though I've had some good times playing LoL with people from this board.

I have only played LoL, and the fact that I have spent $1000
+ on the game means that I can't break myself from moving away from my "investment".

DoTA2

Been playing since the original DoTA. Went to TI3 in Seattle. Salt is Saltyier, Pros are more better, scene is more toxic, and we have the Sheever

I've played a lot of smite lately. I really like it. My roommate plays league religiously.

I prefer the 3rd person view for smite. And i think it has more game modes. So my choice is smite.

League, but I'm biased because I used to play EQ with the guy who created it. It was cool as shite talking on that message board while LoL was being beta'd and shite and seeing how it blew up.

Love me some Smite. I like the 3rd person perspective, it's far more engaging, and I don't feel that smite lacks in any area compared to other mobas.

Also I feel like Smite is very fair to people that don't want to spend a lot of money on games and really allows you to do everything without paying a penny. All the characters can be bought for $30 and the only other use for money is skins, which are fun, but completely unnecessary if you don't want to pay for them

Plus the whole mythology angle for all the characters is really unique. I've also enjoyed that I can play on either PC or consoles, since consoles really promote team play with a built in voice comm system

I have been enjoying HotS. Previously only played League of Legends and Heroes of Newarth, but I couldn't get into them. I love the match length I. Blizzard's game plus the ability to play as Starcraft, WoW, and Diablo characters

I will have to try Smite

This. I feel like it's far more streamlined which makes matches way more engaging. I do wish that they would individualize characters a bit more, but recent new characters like Chiron (new personal favorite), Raijin, and Amaterasu have been a positive direction.

This. It's certainly the best bang for the buck. The only things that you spend money on after unlocking gods are visual items. I like that a lot.

I was pretty big on LoL, but I can't stand it anymore.

I'm really liking HotS right now

I have spent a ton of money on LoL to preface this but... what can you buy that really gives you an advantage, more rune pages?

It's just skins and other things that you can buy with relatively reasonable amount of IP.

Never played DOTA 2, played dota 1
Havent played hots

Have played smite but just didn't do it for me. I get the appeal but it seemed to be trying to be a little bit of everything, again I only put about 4 or 5 hours over 3 sessions into it.

It's hard for me to convince myself to invest the time into another moba other than LoL to get back to an equivalent footing in that particular game (champ balances, matchups, item paths, builds, etc).

Back in the day with runes and rune pages, yes (I haven't played in probably 2 years or so, but I played from release to that point). IMO, even a little advantage pretty much ruins the competition. Everyone should start out on the same footing, regardless of how many hours they put in - When it comes to a competitive game like LoL at least.

Like I said, not sure if anything has changed, but when I couldn't keep up with building enough rune pages to cover different roles and getting better runes, and I noticed a gap regardless of how good I was, I was out.

Now in ranked play, you pick 2 predetermined roles, so you can have a much more limited kit and still have every setup you need fortunately.

I like it bc you don't have to have the chat room/fight/discussion on whose going where.

This: this season has been really good, and now I can actually focus on 2 roles and get really really good with 2 - 3 champs and be ok. It's really awesome

It is.

Looking back, I'm not sure how we functioned without it.
