Not sure if I am going to let myself be consumed by this game like I did the last.
It was fun, but the forever moving goal posts mixed with not enough time to get to one mark before the next appeared made me stop playing.
Who am I kidding I'll probably buy it anyway and it'll be the same game.

Not sure I trust that poster. The artwork is eerily similar to a clip from one of their "commercials" they did, and the "2" looks really unnatural for Destiny. Almost looks like someone mocked this up just to mess with people.

I know you won't be able to bring over your characters, but I just don't feel that will be a deal breaker for anyone when you consider the changes they plan on making to the game.

Well, originally, that was part of the sell of the game. They marketed as it was going to be a 20 year game where you build your character along the way. Instead, they just decide that all the work you put in is completely forgotten. That armor set up you really like, done.
If you want to start fresh, that is fine, but for the amount of work and luck it takes to build up your character how you like it, to just wipe it clean and make it all worthless without giving you an option to bring it with you if you want is just an insult.

Destiny was popular because a lot of people who have never played an MMORPG before basically played an MMORPG.

There was always talk early on with the game for a multi-decade progression of your character. While it would span over multiple games, they would build on each other. If you have an armor set you really like from the first game, with their original intent, why in the world shouldn't you be able to bring it over? If they want to reset power levels, fine, but no reason I shouldn't be able to bring over gear that I've spent so much time and effort to try and perfect over.
ETA: Their whole system of loot is designed around putting in the time and grinding for the perfect roll of gear. That is a system that is set up to reward you for dedication and sticking with it. They are basically now saying, thanks for putting in all this time, it means nothing.
