Glad to help, also once you get to 280 overall you can buy mods from Banshee-44. The mods sold are based of you blue mod inventory. Also you can generate random mods by dismantling two legendary mods and glimmer. This is the only way to get Kinect 5+ attack mods as well.

I hope this isn't a cardinal sin, but does anyone infuse a legendary with exotic? I have a 272 vest that I like and a 282 chest that I can't wear because i have exotic gloves that I don't have a legendary to change to. Should i hold out for higher legendary gloves and use the 282 chest then?

I do it all the time. You can always buy exotics back with a few legendary shards. When you get to power lv 280 mods are easy to come by, so don't worry about that either.

Not sure its been mentioned but doing a second character, and the grind is nowhere near as bad as the first time. Basically had my hunter at level 20 198 light yesterday and got it to 270 in a few hours.

Base character power level for your 2nd character or 3rd will jump very high at lv 20. Because it will take into account your weapons account wide. Armor will then start dropping much higher.

I get this, but what's the advantage to when you've leveled a hunter.......and start another hunter for a faster progression? If you've already done the grinding once, why go again, regardless if it's quicker?

Well my first character is a Titan, second is Hunter. Plan on having all three subclasses. So i'll do the Warlock next. Like to have all three characters available for the raids.

That is the only benefit out of that from what I can see.

I remember some people in here talking about doing the same class a second time and it didn't make sense to me.

It makes plenty of sense if you don't have just a ton of time, especially in D1. This game probably not as much since gear has set rolls, but in D1, if you wanted to be the most efficient at getting desired gear, do multiple of the same class is the best way.

If you create a 2nd character or 3rd that is the same class your base power/light when hitting lv 20 will go off of all your previously owned gear on your main. As they use the same armor and weapons not just same weapons. So when you hit 20, your base power is the exact same as your main on your alt when using the same class.

The advantage to this is now you can do the weekly milestones multiple times on the same class, with each time getting a powerful gear/luminous engram that will increase your power even more. So you can double or triple your weekly power gain. (Note: some have reported bugs with loot drops when doing this, I don't know much about it.)

But with that said all of that is silly to me, I have 3 slots, I will have all 3 classes. Why would I remove gameplay content from my game? Eventually all your characters will be at the cap anyways.
This was only for the heavy power level type of guys that wanted to be 305 as soon as possible for the raid and trials. (Trials ended up having a 260 cap anyways)

So it's just a case of possibly getting different gear the second go around?

The reason people do the same class is to share gear. You can do the milestones again, and transfer the gear you get to your main character. This means your power level will climb faster.

OK.

So at what power level is it "advisable" to start another character?

265+ Because all the rare and legendary soft caps tap out there.

throw all your gear on second character then do stuff that can only be done once a week for each character.

So, its probably more fun to do a different class as an alt, but its more worth it, gear wise, to do the same class alt.

Oh, decisions.

Make different classes.
Unless you are trying to cap out power lv as fast as possible. If that is the case you probably play a ton and power level won't be an issue. If you don't play a lot then what is the point? For it to be efficient you would need to do the weeklies on all characters each week.

As for gear, you would not get a much better chance at exotic armor. There is probably a very small extra chance for armor exotic drops on milestones since you have more. (outside of the 3 starter exotic armor rewards).
Sure you could get a full raid set faster or trials set of armor faster but there is nothing special about those sets.

It is not worth it at all. Remember gun drops are all the same on all classes. Nothing special about armor sets really. Easy to get the stats you want with one character.

I just started my final character yesterday and I have one of each class.

In destiny 1 there were times when i ran three warlocks and two Titans but with the way the crucible plays now that doesn't look like it will happen again.

The story fricking sucks the third time through.
