I did have a moment earlier...I was fighting one of the first balder knights. I was almost dead and he was thrusting towards me. In a panic, I thought I was popping an estus flask and threw a throwing knife at him. Killed him. Had I popped the flask, his attack would have killed me.

Baldur Knights are terrifying early game, especially the assholes with the rapiers. I would learn to parry, you can render most human enemies moot. It's also more satisfying than turtling around for backstabs.

Dex build
I am pretty decent at getting behind most enemies, but I suck at parrying. I can't get the timing down.
I also need to get better at reading attacks (horizontal vs. vertical) so I know which direction to roll.

Ds1 is my personal GOAT.
It has some of the best level design and boss fights
Even clearing low level trash mobs can be challenging if you aren't paying attention.

Undead Parish...I can make it from the first bonfire to just past the iron boar. I've opened the gate but get destroyed in the church. So I'm trying to go up the stairs to the right. Can't make it through the area with the two hollow knights and crossbow dick.
