Anyone have tips on how to get human effigies? I spent my final one last night and need to come up with more before I move on to taking on Iron Keep.

They really don't come in abundance until Shrine of Amana and the Undead Crypt.

Do you have a bonfire ascetic? If so you can burn them at the first bf in the Forrest and get five of them from the chest - where you drop down from the bridge.

You can also trade smooth and silky/prism stones with the crows.

I think you get one for killing am invading phantom.

The one at the entrance to the iron keep bridge may drop one for you.

Watched a video on YouTube and that's exactly what I did. Bought an ascetic from the rock blonde in Majula and used it at that bonfire. Got the 5 from the chest and 1 from up the ladder where the Heide knight used to be.

Tried to get the 3(?) ascetics from the side section at the initial bridge in Iron keep but my fire resistance isn't high enough to make it and I kept dying. Good thing I purchased a butt load of Life gems before trying and only used a effigy after three deaths. Stopped playing to watch the draft.

Don't have the 4 old souls or 1 million soul memory (but very close) to enter through the shrine of winter to get to the Shrine of Amana and the Undead Crypt and don't have anymore silky or prism stones.

Just got my electricity back late last night after the storms here in BR on Monday morning so haven't had the chance to play until now. Either way, appreciate the advice.

If you aren't planning on re-doing your character build in your current playthrough, you can go back to things betwixt and kill all the old hags in the opening room and get 9.

Very tempting but I plan on doing NG+ and I have two soul vessels so yeah. Very very tempting but I'm not in that bad of a pinch... Yet

Once I get my fire resistance up high enough I'll go get those other ascetics from Iron Keep and use those to get more from the Forest of fallen Giants. Appreciate the suggestion though. This is my first time playing so any help/advice is good help/advice

I've been wanting that sword. How do you get it? Do you have to kill the guy or does he give it to you as a gift at some point?

I ran into that guy again last night at the bonfire in Drangleic castle after you beat the two dragon riders and then summoned him for assistance when I took on the looking glass knight. I've been tempted to take him out to get his sword but I've been reluctant to do so in case there's another way to obtain it without killing him.

You get the real sword from killing Freja on NG+ and trading the old pale drake soul to ornifex. Benhart's sword is a fake and doesn't scale with anything.

You can burn a bonfire ascetic in the room with all the spiders to make it ng+.

Also, that same sword can be used to get the crystal soul spear spell. But it's one or the other.

Have you tried the blue flame? I used to murder in pvp duel wielding blue flames, one infused with magic and the other raw.

Is blue flame a sword? I just got to the shrine of Amana, so don't think I've come across that one yet. However, I did get the smelter sword from Straid and the Looking glass knights lightning sword from Ornifex

Durability is pathetic on both though so :sadnana:

Yeah, you have to farm the Leydia ghosts in Undead Crypt to get them. Duel-wielding those is my favorite magic set-up. They also act as a catalyst so you can have both of them buffed with cmw. Power stance them thangs and make butts hurt.

Per Reddit, the Durability patch fix is live for PC users running the game. The update is ~312mb.

The patch sesn't appear to have gone live for Consoles yet but I'd imagine it's close.

It's been a pain in the arse and my weapons feel like they're made out of wet toilet paper. On some levels I've had my weapons come close to breaking 20 minutes in from spawning from a bonfire. I've had to keep multiple weapons equipped and ready to switch too when they were about to break. The console patch can't come soon enough because I got the King's ring last night and about to enter into tougher zones and it's not going to be pretty with the durability issue in place.

They aren't actually changing the durability of the weapons, just the glitch that caused it from taking big hits on dead bodies/walls etc from my understanding.

So, if you have only been hitting enemies with your swings it should be the same. Correct me if I am wrong?

I can honestly say I have not had a weapon break since before level 20 and I'm at 113 now.

Not sure on exactly on what and how you hit something plays individually plays into the degradation but from what I've seen while playing, hitting hard surfaces impacts it more but not sure how much more than bodies. All I know is that the 60FPS somehow doubled the rate of degradation of weapons.

Being new to Dark Souls, I just thought that the fast degradation was part of the game's "frick you" difficulty . I didn't know about it until I started researching the game more for tips on weapons, armor & builds and ran across posts on reddit about it (I think someone mentioned it earlier in this thread as well).

I have played vanilla DS2 on ps3 and I have played this new one.

The glitch drove me mad, maybe it is because I knew how it was supposed to run.

You must use high durability weapons if you are not seeing any problems. All weapons are not equal. Take Whips for example, no chance with this glitch.
