They offer a good balance of big/small maps. The maps aren't nearly as big as people think they are though. They just seem big because people aren't familiar with them yet. Once you run through a map 100 times...It's suddenly starts to feel a lot smaller.

ETA: Also, As it's been with every map on every FPS, the maps have a lot of "dead space" where the action will never occur, So while it may seem big...You'll never interact with it.

That's good to hear.

and don't get me started on the STUPID fricking earthquakes and shite that happens while you're on the map...That's the dumbest shite.

Damn, that kinda sounds like the shite on BO and BO2 like the rocket that takes off or the train that rolls through.

WAY WORSE!!!

On Free Fall, you are fighting on a busted arse skyscraper that is collapsing. So every 2 or so minutes the entire screen starts shaking and shite is falling everywhere.

Tremor does this too, gets annoying as frick after awhile. It was cool the first 2-3 times it happened, then it just got stupid.

Yeah that sounds annoying as frick.

Diz, why are you returning the game though? Seems like you'd at least have fun with it playing with your friends or whatever..

No, there are some really huge maps. Yes there are some smaller and medium sized ones too but there are a few that just go on for days it seems like.

And they are much bigger than mw2. I think the biggest map in mw2 was the one in the woods with the big house. That is about the size of a medium sized map in ghosts. I would compare the larger maps to some of the team death match maps on BF4 only without the ridiculous cross map sniping points, but the same as far as size. Which would be great if the lobbies were bigger.

Like I said, They offer a balance of large and small maps but on the maps that offer a ton of size it doesn't matter. You'll never interact with most of it. This might not be true anymore but I remember for the longest time that Overgrown was the largest map in the franchise for the longest time but you wouldn't think that because you don't use half of it. You have those limited zones where the action is and the rest is just lagniappe.

I feel like the majority of Overgrown was used.

A map like Estate though...very little of anything was done at the bottom of the hill on the house side, and almost nothing was done on the bottom on the boathouse side. EVERY now and then a sniper would hold up down there and maybe get a couple of kills.

Yeah, overgrown was huge, but to be honest, I used that entire map. Some of the best dogfights I had on that map were on the outskirts of it. The buildings on the street were always occupied. There was usually either someone in the gas station or in the grassy field across the (dry) river from it. The house on the back side with the attic probably got the most action of that map and it interacted with the barn which interacted with the bridge that connected to the street I mentioned first. The only part of map that didn't get used much was the field by the house and barn but even then you would have snipers out there occasionally just because nobody paid it any attention.

This game needs a ground war mode and the really big maps need to be removed from the normal games and only played on ground war, or at least have the frequency in which you play them in normal mode dropped. You really need more ppl on them.

Hell, I was playing cranked last night and the maps were so big i blew up quite a bit looking for someone to kill. Lol

Yeah, estate had a lot of dead spots in it. They could have removed everything on that map besides the house, the ridge across from it, and the green house and it would have been a helluva a small map. Even with what I just mentioned it would have had great cqc and medium range areas plus sniping from the ridge to the house and vice versa. The back and bottom of estate were nothing more than ground you had to cover to get back to the actions when you died. Lol

Man, Prepare for a bitch session then...

As most people know, I have been the biggest COD fanboy since COD2 on PC and especially starting on COD4 I put A LOT of time into COD. I did the competitive thing with and without my friends and even made a run at the silly "pro-gamer" thing when I was younger and was able to live as a bachelor with an apartment.

I'm married now and have a kid coming and shite and I just don't have time or desire to play the game like I enjoy playing it. I don't have fun playing pubs...I love the challenge of competitive play because win or lose it's just a blast. The only way I really enjoy playing COD is when me and my friends get together in one of our game rooms and get after it and especially with this installment of the franchise I don't EVER see myself playing this game at the house for fun by myself.

It removed a shite ton of features and charged 60 dollars for something that could have easily been DLC for MW3. The maps are interesting but I have been through 8 COD release nights now and I know the "shiny new" feeling fades fast. When you sit back and really look at these maps they aren't worth 60 bucks.

The subtraction of CTF, Search and Destroy, Headquarters, Demolition and Hardpoint are unacceptable. I can understand removing or combining a few playlist in order to prevent your player base from fragmenting a little but to simply just remove them is a joke.

I don't like the unlock system on this game either. I can appreciate the option of unlocking with level progression or using some sort of currency but they made it a fricking GRIND and it's not fun. I played probably 9 to 10 hours release night and only made it to like 18 or 20 and barely had shite unlocked it felt like. Accruing squad points takes a few matches and each gun cost on average 8 points with each attachment taking on average 4 to 5 points. That's a shite ton of playing time in order to try out something you might hate. The option to play a few games here and there really isn't there anymore.. You'll never get shite unlocked. I don't have time or the desire to spend 24 hours of playing time to figure out which sub-machine gun load out I like. That's stupid.

Also, even though I didn't use it all the time.. The removal of theater mode.. WTF? It's a feature that's been in the last 3 installments of COD so what excuse do you have to remove it? What about this game was so ground-breaking that it required the removal of that feature? Was it the fricking puppies and knee-slides?

Treyarch has been raising the bar with the BLOPS games and IW has failed to compete. It's ridiculously lopsided. I wanted to like this game. I was hoping this game was going to pull me back in and I would start spending a weekend every few weeks with the dudes playing some COD but this showing was pathetic and I'm not even pretending to support this shite anymore. They didn't even fricking try, They knew it was a cash-cow and knew people like me would just fork over 60 bucks to play it. I got a night of fun with the boys and I'm moving on.

The unlock system is pretty clunky I agree. I don't like it at all. I really don't have a clue how the whole squad thing works. It looks pretty retarded too. I figure I'll just ignore that part if I don't like it.

Damn, man. Some of that sucks to hear though...thankfully, I usually find a few loadouts that I like and stick with those (enough to be comfortable with but at the same time enough to swith it up if it gets stale). Hopefully I won't be too turned off by loveling up weapons (one of my friends had said something to be about that yesterday). I can't wait to check it out, and definitely hope I like it, but I am not blindly attached to it so if I think it sucks I won't have a problem putting it down and moving back to MW3 (or even 2).

About the removed gametypes though...is that something that is permanent? I can't imagine those GTs won't be in the game in some capacity at some point...like could they maybe have just not released those gametypes yet?

One thing I don't like is that the map packs for MW2 are still like $15. I was playing with a buddy of mine last week and he went to DL the map packs and didn't do it. He was like "I can buy the fricking game online for 7 bucks, but have to pay $15 for maps that are about 4 years old?" And I didn't blame him (but did make fun of him for being poor).

What in the frick? Other than domination, CTF and Search made COD what it is and made it competitive. That's so shitty.

Uh, Have you paid attention to IW? They aren't like Treyarch. They don't give a flying frick what consumers want.
