I know you guys have some builds you can suggest,

Friend is finally getting into PC gaming, his max budget without peripherals is 800-900 but let's just say 900.

It's been a while since I built a PC so I don't want to get any compatibility issues.

He'll be over paying for a video card since they're all out of stock or overpriced second hand.

If you need help building and y'all are in BR, I can build it for ya

Without knowing if your buddy wants to do overclocking, does other things besides games, has a preference between AMD or Intel, here is a decent Ryzen build I came up with:

Not even gonna bother throwing a graphics card in there because the prices are so screwed right now because of mining.

PCPartPicker part list: LINK
Price breakdown by merchant: LINK /

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor ($199.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: MSI - B350 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard ($100.00 @ B&H)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($57.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($99.89 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($48.44 @ OutletPC)
Case: Corsair - 200R ATX Mid Tower Case ($54.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($79.75 @ OutletPC)
Total: $641.05
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
