I'm not knowledgeable enough to give solid opinion but I know most times in order to help they'll ask what do you intend to use it for? Just gaming? If so what type of games? Knowing That helps when offering advice

Go with a HGST of the same specs. More reliable and $10 cheaper.

If you must buy now, get a R9 390.

This series from Crucial is slow for a SSD, but you won't really notice the difference.

Why are you getting 2 tiny shtty monitors?

You might want to settle on 1 decent monitor instead of dual turds. Will post some suggestions.

Mainly I'm building it for gaming but I will do work on it too, although I don't think my work programs are intensive at all for the computer.

As for the games I play, there is no specific genre. I play Smite for example but I would also like to be able to play games that are more campaign based, strategy based, or the occasional shooter. I don't need ultra settings but would like high quality still.

The monitors seem like an odd choice.

I have just gotten used to 2 monitors at work and was trying to go cheaper on those.

I reckon it would be better to get one really good one instead and adjust.

I couldn't live without two monitors anymore (not even a single ultrawide is enough), but I'd go larger on them. Right now I've got a 27" 1440P and 27" 1080P, but it's certainly cleaner to match resolution at least.

Any manufacturer I should avoid or look for on this one?

If I plan to mainly just have my OS on the SSD, would the speed difference be more noticeable? Either positive or negative?

How much are you gonna OC? You could save about 20 bucks getting the EVO. I'm not too experienced with OCing, so someone could give you a better answer here.

If you're just gaming, you could save and get 8 GB now, and upgrade later. Of course, I just did a build and bought 16 GB so

I guess this is sort of your budget. If you have the money, this is a great card. For bang for your buck, you could get a GTX 960 or a R9 380 for about $100 less.

Power Supply: XFX TS 750W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply ($77.98 @ Newegg)

IDK anything about XFX power supplies, so someone could better help you here. 750W should be enough though.

I just bought an R9 380 4 GB from Sapphire with the Backplate. Very good build quality.

I would assume the R9 390 they have would be good as well.

No, the 970 and 390 have same or similar performance/dollar. You see diminishing returns after that, though. For a gaming PC, always spend at least 30% of your tower budget on GPU.

Hmm, the R9 390 looks to be a bit cheaper than the 970 for the most part too.

Good call

EDIT: Newegg has the XFX R9 390 for $299 after rebate: LINK

I concur.

You start with an overall budget and take 30-40% for the GPU then build the system around supporting that piece. Sounds a little stupid, but if you're on a limited budget and want a gaming machine it is a great way to approach the build.

At what point does a graphics card limit a CPU and vice-versa?

CPU will limit cards in SLi/CFx and/or bottleneck a system in single card use.

You want a modern Intel CPU with 4 physical cores(not just logical) like the i5 6600K you listed. That is the minimal. Unless Zen releases by the time you start buying parts, then the 6600K will be your base option for now.
