Better to buy game disk or digital dload for PC?

buying game for relative and they have bioshock:infinite for 39$ for disk. $9 for digital dload
only thing is no disk, nothing else correct
And are they always that much cheaper for digital dload only?
Also, if bought on steam, i can gift to people, correct? gifting wasnt available on amazon.

You can gift on steam. Only difference is no disc. My comp doesnt even have a disc drive

i'm not, i'm all about no disks, but the wife wants to give her brother the gift, and surprise him.
i'm like, seriously, he's 37 years old, does he believe in santa also. He was cool with me buying on steam and gifting several games. I told her to take care of it herself, i'm out.

Yes, and i'm dead serious. She wants him to be surprised when he opens his gifts, i laughed, and told her she can take care of it now, buy him some shite clothes from kohls or something.
He isn't a special one, but she acts like he is.

Purchase a Steam Key for it, print out key and put it in a box, then wrap.

I do.
But Steam is still better. I just use the optical drive for just-in-case convenience, and occasional blu-ray/dvd archival of my most important files.
