The first one, which is standard straight-through wiring. The second one is for crossover wiring, when using the cable to connect computer to computer directly.

I rewired my Dad's 6000 sq ft house last month in lieu of using wireless extenders. He has hughesnet, so he needs all the interference-free throughput he can get out of that shitty connection.

Do that on both ends and you're golden.

Don't waste money on a tester either. Plug your cable into your router and computer before you run it. Will save you 40 bucks.
