I'm not saying PES is better by any stretch, but it's less suited to a casual game night than Fifa. It's harder to be better at for sure.

Yeah, we rotate games often so it's tough for anyone to really get the hang of a game to where we can crank up difficulty. I've got this one guy still tries to use the hit stick to tackle people. Not sure if he's trying to force a fumble or what, but he's just got no clue. But I tell you what, having him on the team is like one extra level of difficulty in itself.

I still have 360 because I'm lame and PES is 40 bucks on that system. I'm guessing that's because it sucks. I'll wait for Fifa on Tuesday.

it was $40 on pc too. konami doesnt wanna charge the full $60 because they arent improving the graphics on those systems, so they only get the gameplay changes

I have Fifa ordered from Amazon but almost got PES when it came out to tide me over. Their lack of licensing with all premier league teams, as well as other leagues, was a big negative for me.

Went PES for Xbox One. Gameplay is just too good to pass up. We'll see what happens. I'm usually an every other year sports game type, so if I really hate not having licenses, then I might just go for FIFA 18.

Right now it sucks as I'm not starting a Career until I'm finished editing the Premier League. But I've changed most of the Team names and have completed 8 Uniforms. Time consuming, but it isn't too bad.

In the games I have played, it's just way better. Goals just feel so much more earned. No blowout games.

IGN gave FIFA an 8.4, better than the 7.8 shitshow that was '16.

The Verdict
For all that FIFA promises something for every football fan, from the casual observer to the full-kit fanatic, I still find myself wishing that EA Sports would spend a little more time focusing on the basics. You could probably create the perfect football game by letting Konami handle everything on the pitch, with EA Sports responsible for everything off it. But FIFA plays well enough that the gains elsewhere – in terms of licensing, authenticity, and big-match atmosphere – more than compensate for those shortcomings. For my money, PES is still ahead where it counts most, but The Journey gives FIFA something unique and rewarding. If you can afford it, this year it might just be worth getting both.
