Most importantly, what does this mean for 3 Tails? Is it separate?

I asked the exact same. That’s my only concern.
I ~think~ it’s not considered part of WSM. But I guess we have to sit tight and see.

I hope not. That would suck. Scott is a Baton Rouge treasure.

Never had the chance to go to WSM since opened not long after I moved, but I really like Finn Hall in downtown Houston. They have some really good tenants, but seemed to be struggling when went there during the weekend of the LSU baseball series at Minute Maid this year.

Main Street Market downtown really isn't any different of a concept and it's been successful for a while. Though a huge difference is the foot traffic and it's literally attached to a parking garage. High foot traffic or plenty of parking are important.
That spot on Government was never going to work.
Also, food stalls were opening up, then within a year, moving or closing. It was almost built to fail.

It's also in the middle of an area where you have thousands of people working every day and thousands of people who are downtown for business, government stuff or tourism.

The Farmer's Market has it pretty packed every Saturday morning as well.

To be fair, this is supposed to be the point. New businesses test-run their concept in the market space and if successful, open a free standing location. If unsuccessful, they close.
The vendors weren't anything mind blowing, but I really don't think they were the issue as much as the concept just being hit or miss in general.

Totally agree, which is why the area by Independence Park would have been a better area. You’ve got hundreds of people daily meeting there.
*with the right vendors, and would have to be a little more family friendly*
Combine with large government complexes, a library, three neighborhoods adjacent & enough distance from the rest of Mid City’s crowded restaurant scene and I think it could have survived longer.
-Also, a Goodwood/East Airport location is few miles down the road from Mid City, it’s not that far from “the scene”

Always thought it was a bad location. I never understood the hype for that area. Right on the edge of Baton Rouge's upper shithole. High crime. Yes, the neighborhoods to the south are fine and dandy, but I didn't expect it to offer enough support to make it successful.
Then I started hearing how wonderful and busy the place was. Always packed. And I was like, "What am I missing?"
Apparently nothing. Just overhyped bs. I was right and usually am about these things.
Should've have put it on Perkins Rd and cut out the pretentious food.

I dunno... maybe it’s because BR is a limited ramen market but I’m a massive Chow fan. The only other place I know of is Jinya which is the definition of mediocre IMO

I love CYP (I don’t eat the ramen, actually), but the overpass location is great. No real need for the market location anymore.
