I've been thinking about giving scotch another chance.

What do you guys suggest?

I haven't had many but the only 2 that really impressed me were Highland Park 18 and Lagavulin 21.

Wow Sisyphus... Could you pick 2 more different to start.

My standard canned answer is Glenfiddich 15. It is the best value scotch IMHO.

If you wallet will allow, Talisker 18 is one of the best scotches I have tried.

Other than that try a lot of them. They are all different and special in their own way.

Good Luck.

How fars the store from beard estates?

Not very close, unfortunately. Hattiesburg is about 2-2.5 hours away from here. I try to make the trek regularly or get deliveries from there

Had some Jameson 18 yr over the weekend, smoothest drink I've ever had. So good.

I like trying different things. Also Lagavulin was all over Italy. It was either that or Johnnie Walker.

Sounds like this will be my list for tomorrow night at The Cove:

Balvenie 14yr Caribbean Cask
14yr Glenfiddich Bourbon Barrel Reserve
Glenfiddich 15
Talisker 18

Also, so far we have 11 people that have emailed me about the private barrel.

For a barrel proof selection we are looking at 150-200 750ml bottles. (Obviously this can vary either way) So I'd like to get a few more commits before we move forward.

More than likely Buffalo Trace or Four Roses. I should have that info by the end of the day.

Is the plan for us to get what we want and the rest goes to the store or do we have to purchase the entire barrel?

There are stores that have no problem moving barrel select stuff pretty quickly and we will have to go through a store, doesn't matter if it is all purchased by us or not. What would be ideal on our end would be the ability to pick couple of barrels purchased from different brands. Whoever is available, make a trip to Kentucky, pick barrels and have a grand ole time. Then when the bottles come in have first choice at whatever we want and then the rest goes to the public. Win, win for us and the store.

I'm in for a few.

How many would depend on exactly what it is.
