been on day trips when I lived in Jersey, please go to a jewish deli, they have lots, and get a Reuben sandwich, also find an Italian grocery store with a deli in the back and get their eggplant parm...

nothing more New York to me than Jewish and Italian deli food

most diners have a bagel with virginia ham and fried egg that will hold you till dinner, more of a Jersey thing but still good, try scrapple too.

you might tell from my posts I was on a tight budget

Honestly, I am not sure. All I know is that they make a boatload from LSU games and they appreciate our fans coming in... It won't be as packed as usual because it is a day game but it will be fun. They pipe in music from the GBFTL, have Louisiana food... It's always fun just because you run into someone you haven't seen/weren't expecting to see in the city

Just another piece of advice for your trip... Go over to Williamsburg on Sunday for the Brooklyn flea market/brunch/just being on the waterfront. It's an awesome spot and the best view of the city

Have you stayed there recently? I've stayed there a few times, most recently about a year ago, and I think, and have always thought, that it is kind of a dump. At a minimum, it is in need of renovation as the rooms are dated and worn down. The Waldorf Towers rooms are generally better, but there are better options. In that area the Omni and the Palace are slightly better options.

I havent stayed there since I was a kid but i have been there for fundraisers recently... It's an institution. If you don't like classic hotels I can see the complaints but I prefer them to modern ones.

nope. the alumni chapter just went in there and said "if you hang up a few LSU flags, play the game on the speakers and tvs, and have your bartenders wear P&G, we will bring you copious amounts of money 13 or 14 times a year in the fall" and they said "sure"

the owners are like irish, i think. they show soccer downstairs all the time.

Ah, that makes sense. The common areas, ballrooms, lobby, bars, etc are great. The rooms however, are shite.

Ate at bull and bear Friday night. Ordered a dozen oysters which were amazing and the 60 day aged Kobe ribeye steak which was a whopping 90 dollars.
I've never had Kobe beef before so I decided to give it a shot. For my sides I ordered the asparagus and au gratin potatoes and they were just as good as everything else.

I went to best bagels before I started drinking at legends and ordered the bacon egg and cheese bagel. The bagel she gave me made that sandwich so good!

I strongly recommend eating at JG melon.

Go hit little branch for a bar experience you likely won't find in too many places
