A friend of mine told me recently that his friend works for the company that makes Evangeline Maid and Bunny Bread. It's the same company and he claimed it was the very same bread under the two different names. Have no idea if that's true.

No chance that's true. We just made the switch to Bunny (from Evangeline) because it's softer.
eta: quick google search reveals they are both owned by the same company. The recipes have to be different though. Don't they?

I ran into the Bread Delivery Guy at Franks in Des Allemands and he told me the same thing. He said Bunny stops at The Des Allemands Bridge and Evangeline Starts there.

I don't recall the regions, but that's basically what the guy said. They call it Evangeline in certain areas and Bunny in others. The guy is a distributor.

It appears to be true. Moreover it appears to have been true since the 1960s.

I was speaking to the bread being the same. I feel like there's a distinct difference in the texture of each slice. I did not know they were owned by the same company though. Since the 60's at that.

I quit eating evangeline maid a long time ago. The bread has this weird chemical taste and is nasty.

I’ve had this debate since the 90s when I moved to Louisiana. Grew up with butterkrust. I always thought they were different. Evangeline seems softer.

Bunny is the same exact bread.
