When did Laffy turn into chain restaurant central?

There are at least 8 freakin chains going into that new Costco cluster center. Though I do hope that Mexican place is good. Laffy Mexican is terrible.
ETA: from the down votes, there must be some people here who think Lafayette is top notch for Mexican food.

I have to agree that Lafayette has never done fantastic Mexican.. and it's ironic because of Lafayette's cultural connection and proximity to Texas.

Maybe only chains can afford to be in the Costco area? I honestly don't really know how that works. I consistently give my business to locally owned places, but it doesn't mean I don't occasionally hit up a chain. If we get a PF Chang's, I'm gonna try it!

I had some terrible Mexican at Urbano's yesterday.

FWIW I lived there in 2003 and didn't really think much about their dining scene. It was mostly chains back then.
I was told that the Bennigan's that used to be by the Mall of Acadiana was the busiest and highest grossing location in America.

There is a growing effort to support local businesses, but chains are choking them out. The other issue Lafayette has is that it is the biggest city in the Acadiana area. People come from all round to shop and spend the day. Many of these people have never heard of the local places and will just go to a chain they see on TV. (Low information eaters? Is that a thing?)

Yes, it just seems like a ton of restaurants in one are (like a food court) especially with what is already right there on Ambassador.

What Mexican restaurants have you tried? Curious.

Eat Lafayette is a good organization that helps get local places names out
Oh yeah, I love when restaurants start running the Eat Lafayette menu. Its a great way to try new restaurants on the cheap.

Who would have guessed that a town full of chads and ronnies love them some Chili's and Outback

Chuys. Ive eaten at them in Texas; better than anything Lafayette currently has except for La Pagua.
There are a lot of chains in Lafayette but there are also many many great locally owned establishments that really make Lafayette a great place for good food; you just have to wade through all the chains to find them.

you obviously haven't eaten at La Morenita

where's La Morenita?
I do enjoy La Pagua and excited about Chuy's. Hopefully it's close to the same quality as the Austin locations.

Kinda by Ambassador and I-10. It is primarily an authentic Mexican grocery store with a kitchen. Good shite.
