if the BBQ sauce is "Original", how can the recipe have been improved?

i attributed the smoke with no meat to coals and/or wood

Except they mean original as in the first of their barbecue sauces, differentiating it from their hickory and brown sugar one.

Nah. But as someone who notices and is often bothered by this kind of thing, too, I'm just used to trying to figure out the intent. I could be completely wrong, but when a product offers several flavor varieties, the first flavor is often referred to as the original.
