What's a good brand whiskey to give as a gift to a whiskey snob?

You brought up Pappy’s.

That’s a Bourbon Whiskey.

Do you want Bourbon Whiskey suggestions or Scotch Whisk(e)y suggestions?

Also, price range, hur-de-durrr.

Research and find something middle shelf that over performs, but you know they're probably too good to try.

Bulleit or 4 roses have some small batch stuff that’s really good and not super expensive. It also has an interesting looking bottle so it’s nice to display

Bardstown whiskey is all good, expensive enough to probably placate most snobs and has some good options depending on what you want to pay.

If you can find some old Bird Dog in their old bottles. They quit making them, but some liquor stores still have a few. They were tall and skinny.

I’m not talking about their fruit flavored bottles.

Lagavulin 16 is very highly rated and less than 200/bottle. Considering you didn’t want pappys I assume your price range is somewhere in that ballpark. You can get some rip van winkle instead of pappys for 750-1000 online btw, they’re not all 4k and up.
