They strayed too far from their roots by expanding their menu (and their prices) beyond the pizzas, calzones, and salads that they were known for.

What would be the second place for mid range Italian restaurant that specializes in pizza? I guess Rotolo's has filled that void?

Shame, I thought DeAngelo's was a great place to have a married couples night out.

A pizza place that didn't want to be a pizza place.

Bc In 1995 the crew was the proudest in baton rouge, who hand made damn near everything, and would walk through fire for Louis.

Now, everything comes from a bag and tastes like garbage. Cheap ingredients, cheap labor, cheap product.

Wasn't there some sort of lawsuit over the name (Louis DeAngelos) and menu? That's when they changed it to DeAngelos and expanded the menus.

Some big sandwich shop up north. The name changing was that only, nothing to do with the menu.

Does he still have the place in Wampolds building downtown? Never here a peep about that place.

No clue. I spent 10 years rockin the kitchen through high school and college. Zoila was way after my time.

Funny this thread came up, I had a calzone and ravioli last night to go from Bluebonnet. Calzone was half cooked, and was a waste of $. Swore I'd never go back to any of them again.

Didn't know Zoila was owned by him. Really good place that doesn't get due credit.

Zolia is fantastic.

I've done dinner, lunch, and Sunday jazz brunch. Loved all 3.
