Title says it all; I'm in Ft Worth this weekend and wasn't sure if there was anything in particular I should seek out

Rds & Zappas Stache to the courtesy phone please.

From what I know, Deep Ellum, Lakewood, Community and Peticolas.

I had a Dallas friend rant and rave about Community Beer Company over Thanksgiving.

We have great breweries in North Texas. Here are a few of my favorite local brews.

Community Ascension Coffee Porter
Deep Ellum IPA
Franconia Triple Dunkel
Lakewood Temptress Imperial Milk Stout
Peticolas Velvet Hammer Imperial Red Ale
Revolver Blood and Honey American Wheat Ale

I'm not as much of a maven as many on here, but I love that the craft scene is exploding around here. I don't try as many as I'd like.

Sounds like it would be right up my alley. I just got their Legion Russian Imperial Stout, and was pretty happy with that purchase. Very rich.

I really enjoy the Deep Ellum IPA too. Drank a good bit of that this summer.

Was finally about to try the Revolver Blood and Honey the other night at dinner, but they were out. The Revolver Bock wasn't a disappointing substitute though.

You can get the Sculpin IPA (Ballast Point Brewing) in Dallas...it's my #1 all time IPA. They make a sister IPA called Big Eye (I think) that's very good, too.

Ballast point sculpin is a good beer, but I'd rather drink local fresh craft beer if possible. The community brewing Mosaic IPA looks intriguing. I have a lb of mosaic hops at home I need to do something with and tasting that beer might be a first step in the process :)

I've had both fresh and this is very inaccurate.

beer advocate has Deep Ellum IPA at 90%
Sculpin at 98%

both great beers.

it's not "wrong" because I prefer one over the other.

Sculpin is boring IMFO.

My fav brewers in DFW are

Lakewood brewing-Hopp Trapp, Goatman Black IPA (seasonal) and Temptres Milk Stout.
Amarillo Ale Works-their Greenbelt Saison is solid.
Cedar Creek (Dankosaurus IPA)
Grapevine Brewery makes a nice pale ale
Community MOSAIC IPA is good.

Deep Ellum is hit and miss. Their IPA is solid but their Dreamcrusher DIPA....which used to be world class before they dumbed down the recipe...is awful. Their Double Brown is decent.

Martin House in Ft Worth has some decent stuff.

Rahr is not worth your time. Peticolas is pretty average IMO.

All in all, DFW brewers do some good stuff but have a lot a bad stuff too.

If you find Rahr's bourbon barrel winter warmer, get some.
