Where's the best steak for under $15 per person in Baton Rouge?
Need location and specific cut if possible.

$15 per pound, $15 per steak, $15 for a group of 15?

I have been wearing out the NY Strips at Hi Neighbor on Jones Creek

How many people are you trying to feed? If it's 10-15, it may be worth your while to buy a whole ribeye and have it cut into 1.5 - 2 inch steaks.

You can get a ribeye slab at Costco or Sam's for under 15 dollars a pound I believe and just have them butcher it for you.

What is Costco price on Brisket?

Somewhere in the neighborhood of <$4/lb. Haven't bought one in a couple months though, so can't say exactly.

Regardless of price, you want Choice meat or better (but you won't have the budget for Prime) So Choice is the quality you are looking for, Sam's and Costco both carry good meat. When you pick the meat, you want marbling (small veins of fat) this makes the meat tenderer...

HEB frequently runs sales on their Prime steaks and will sell Prime NY Strips for $7.99 a pound. I load up when they do this.
You can definitely get Prime meat for $15 a steak. Crazy to think otherwise.

I don't have a Sam's or Costco card.
The whole point of this thread is for me to start buying meat somewhere other than Walmart or Winn Dixie. I was assuming that you can get "choice" cuts under $15.
Am I wrong?

You can. Some stores carry Select only, some sell Choice and Select, some sell Choice and Prime. Filets are typically more than ribeyes or strip steaks.

If you're feeding enough to justify the quantity purchased, a whole rib eye may be a cost saver, and you can cut it (or have it cut) as you want.

Winn Dixie is advertising USDA Choice Angus T-bones for $9.95 per pound with their saver's card.
Without knowing specifically what they are charging, I usually buy my steaks from Calvin's or Alexander's. They always have USDA Choice cuts, other than filets, available for less than $15 per pound, and they will cut them to the thickness you desire.

Another thing to consider is the thickness of the steak. I like a rarer steak. I would prefer to split a 2" thick steak with someone than for both of us to have a 1" steak. The thinner the steak the easier it is to overcook. Many stores sell 1" as standard but will custom cut for no additional money.

Wish I knew. Get you some filets wrapped in thick bacon, cowboy ribeyes or thick strips
