In New Orleans has closed. Anyone know exactly what happened. It was the best pizza in NOLA.

The owner was a piece of work. He came across as a complete dick, and even after you got to sort of know him, he still came across that way, but you sort of realized he didn't really mean to be such a dick.
He had a great pizza sauce, and a pretty decent all around pizza. It was better, when he was in the little building down from where Cochon Butcher is now. I think he had a real pizza oven in there. When he moved to the last location, he started using this tiny little conveyor belt job, and they weren't nearly as good.
I wonder what happened to him.
I'd like to see him resurface in a place with real pizza ovens, because he could definitely put out one of the better pies in town.

Just imagine how good Johnny's could be without having to use a conveyer belt.

No kidding...they could start calling it the "Ultimate Sweep" or something like that.

I heard the owner moved back to Florida - I have no idea if this is true.

I thought he was Australian, or maybe S. African.

I loved WDP. The employee (owner?) was priceless, especially when he would wear his sleveless under armour shirts or his off colored dyed hair.
I was dining with a co-worker one day for lunch. We were the only people in there. A five top walks in and sits. He gives them menus, and came back in 10 mins. He then informs them it would be 1 hr before the pizza is done. I couldn't stop laughing.
Prior to Katrina, his pizzas were even better. He offered odd toppings and his spicy sauce was hard to beat.
