Oh yea I've been many times. Mostly we stop by when boat riding to grab a burger. Food is OK. Nothing special.

Food is good, service sucks!! Took a boat ride one spring evening to get the all you can eat boiled shrimp. We sat down immediately but were never waited on. Young couple next to us walked in waitress took order and before you know it they were eating. Needless to say after 20-30 mins of waiting for help we left.

Back in the day, they made the BEST fried shrimp around. I haven't been there in years, so I don't know what it's like now.

They still do a good job with this and oysters. As above pointed out its a fry palace but it does have good burgers. Just an old joint that's been around a long time.

I like it better than Kevin's down there.

all of it is the sysco pre-frozen crap just like Kevins. neither seem worth the trip to me, but they pack the place in. I think it seemed better back in the day, but really was about the same.

There aren't many places to eat around there, and when people are coming in from being on the river all day, they will pretty much eat anything.

My brother likes Vals, but then again he also thinks bud light is a good beer, bar fights are normal and he drives a checkmate that costs almost half of what his dwelling costs. It's a different world down there.

yes

that is drastically overstated

I would throw in the steak joint in FS, not sure what it is called now. only service is slow and there is a lack of menu options. but their steaks are as good if not better than anywhere I have eaten.

they had that place by kevin's (daddy-o's, fat daddy's, Daddysomethings) that was decent for lunch but it didn't last long. Pier 13 tried really hard but was just too pricey for the area.

In general you can make a killing by buying all you food from sysco then deep frying the stuff and having crawfish during season.

almost forgot, Black Lake Club has some legit crabs during season.

Swamp pops can be good, depending on what you get. Clean joint.

agreed, the swamp burger isn't that great though. the regular burgers are.

they have that 50's cafe thing too, only been once though. had some kid in there cleaning up that was kicking arse, had to leave him a tip.

they have a bar in the back that is very baton rougey. The owner is a nice guy and they actually have Abita and non-domestic beer.

IDK... the frog legs at Kevin's (along with the frog leg etouffee at Robin's are Henderson) are the best I've ever had... if anyone knows of any better, I'd sure like to know.
