I don't understand why so many women put all this pressure on guys over Valentine's Day? What's the big deal? IMO, it's a commercialized holiday, and it's just about spending money, trying to make your woman happy.

And yes, I AM a woman, but I just don't get it. Of course, my man tells me all the time I'm not the "typical woman", I hate "chick flicks", for our honeymoon - is was my idea to go fishing at Grand Isle & I'd much rather watch Spike TV than ANYTHING on lifetime..

Guys...do you feel pressure to make your woman happy for this goofy holiday?

Women...do y'all expect all the cliche things..flowers, chocolate, etc?

absolutely not but i don't think valentine's day is commercialized, you could say the same for mother's day and father's day.

our dating anniversary isn't even a month after so I'd rather wait and do something special for that. this year, we're going grab sushi at our go-to place the weekend before because i'll be out of town on the actual day. not really a vday celebration, just a let's go enjoy a quiet night at the sushi bar and watch whatever game is on the tv like we always do.

my girlfriend doesn't really care about it. she was kinda a quiet loner in school so she never really liked the holiday.

I might bring her flowers or something but it doesn't really matter if it's on the 14th.. and it's something I'd probably do anyway so why bother with the holiday.

There was a long thread a few weeks ago when a guy came here wanting suggestions for VDay dinner. We told him it was nuts to go out that night. I think every woman in the thread agreed on that. He got late reservations at Ruth's Chris, told the gf and she told him she wasn't eating out on that day.

My husband asked me what I wanted to do. I said nothing. Then I thought about it and said, actually if you cook, I would love that. He said ok, I'll do that.

Then he said I'll have to show him how to cook it.

Same can be said about Christmas.

Jesus, I hate when women brag about this kind of shite. Not every man is impressed that you can "just be one of the guys." I like my women to be women. Leave the manly shite to me and my boys.

No offense to you personally, though.

Whatever keeps me from having to deal with an angry woman who will withhold sex.

Why is this thread on another board? Go away. It already didn't work on the OT.

Lucy doesn't care about holidays, anniversaries or Xmas. She tells me to buy whatever she wants and I buy it. Some of it is really stupid. IE, she has 200 pairs of hospital scrubs that are all the same size and color. She just likes to buy hospital scrubs. The latest delivery came today by UPS.

Very true. I don't want to go out to eat on Christmas, either. Not a big Valentine's fan. Never have been, but I love Christmas. Like Thanksgiving best, though.

I have lots of guy friends, but I am woman! I love Lifetime and Hallmark and all of those "have the happy ending" Christmas movies. I don't even know what Spike TV is and it sounds like I don't want to.

Anniversaries are commercialized, too, just not as much. Every event is.

Some people enjoy giving gifts and like the excuse of Valentine's Day to do it. I just don't think it's a good idea to go out to dinner that night when expectations can be high.

Not every guy wants a woman who has the same hobbies and wants to do them together all the time. They like guy time and I like "away from the guy" time.

It's OCD. She doesn't like baseball but she was watching Nomar Garciappara of the Red Sox going through his batting ritual and she said " Oooooh, he's got OCD."
