I've used a cheese grate and also just peeled with a knife. Either way works.
I think I may try the suspension method next time. Sounds interesting.
Let us know how it turns out

I've made orangecello as well. I liked that a bit more.
I usually make a batch of lemoncello and orangecello at the same time. For the alcohol I combine a bottle of everclear and vodka so it's stronger than vodka but not as much as straight evercear. Split it in half between the orange and lemon peels. I use 2-3 pounds of fruit.
I use a microplane and make sure no pith at all.
I soak for about 3 months or until the peels have little to no color. Store in a cool dark place like a pantry or closet and give it a stirring shake every day or three. Go a minimum of 4 weeks on this step but the longer the better.
Strain through cheesecloth or organic coffee filters until clear. Combine with the sugar water and put it in freezer for a week before serving.

Thanks man. I enjoyed doing it. Will try to line it up and bring some bottles to the next jamboree.
