Has anybody been to either? What did you think? Thanks.

Both are great, but I'm not a big fan of sushi. Trynd is great Italian. The spaghetti is incredible. Both are great places to have a good drink and meal.

@ OP The Tsunami in BR is top notch, don't know if that speaks highly of the one in Laffy or not.

I've eaten at Trynd a couple of times. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. It had only been open a few weeks when I went, so I reserve judgement. That said, I think that place is doomed to fail. It's just to big and I think it will be very difficult to succeed over the long term on that scale.

Just got back from trend. Meh.....it was okay. They are proud of it for what it is. We had calamari to start with and a caprese salad. The calamari was lacking taste but tender. The caprese salad was good, wife had lasagna and liked it. I had the veal parm and it was ok. Just seemed a bit too much for what it was.

Your experience sounds about like mine. Here's why I think it fails:
It's way too big: fixed costs are going to eat them alive.
The name is fricking stupid and implies what's wrong with the place. I don't want a trendy restaurant, I want something that's going to consistently be good and I know what to expect.
Any place that misspells shite on the menu sucks
They are trying to do too many things at one time. It's Italian, it's an oyster bar, it's a bar, it's a jazz club. Make up your mind. Oh, and did I mention the name is stupid?

frick Texas. Your food is totally compromised from knock off Mexican dishes and fake bar-b-q. Everyone knows Memphis is better
