by all means enjoy eating at going to trendy paleo steak restaurants and decide to lose weight in the short term by going on a gluten-free diet, but don’t be fooled by the evolutionary scientific explanations which are now out of date. Your genes and your microbes are evolving faster than you realise and can cope with the new additions to our diet in the last few thousand years. The caveat is that we need to keep our gut microbes as healthy as possible. But dietary diversity, not exclusions, is the key.

The two biggest problems I would have had if I had tried it was eating no beans or no dairy.
What the hell could really be wrong with green beans? They seem healthy as can be.
And I love some white beans and red beans. Of course I know not eating much white rice with them would still be a key.

If they're trying to dissuade me from trying Paleo foods, that picture isn't helping.

green beans are fine, and even the other legumes are the healthiest non-paleo food you can eat.

ETA: and that article is misleading. It doesn't say the diet doesnt work(it does). So to say the paleo diet is absurd, is absurd. It just discredits the "eat like a caveman" mantra. But that isn't exactly the science behind the diet. It's just a basic way to describe the eating pattern. Not to be taken 100% literal.

Very much agree with your ETA.

It's just a name for the diet and some of the original ideas behind it were structured around what hunter/gatherers ate. It's not set in stone that you can't eat an item just because it was grown/raised by man. If that was the case, there wouldn't hardly be any people eating "paleo" by the strictest sense.

It's just a good way to avoid processed foods, heavy carbs and bad fats. Simple as that.

Most experts agree that paleo is a shite diet

It was voted worst diet out of 30 by a ton of doctors, nutritionists, trainers, etc

It's a fad and will go away

Beans are one of the most nutritious foods on the planet. So is milk

Gluten allergies affect about 2% of the population and gluten free shite isn't any healthier

Like my trainer tells me, why the frick would I follow a diet in an age where the average person lived to be 30?

Because your trainer is an idiot. It's not like people dropped dead at 30. The massive number of infant deaths skews the number lower. Once you made it past your childhood, you could plan on living to 60

I never understand why people feel they have to attack a diet that consists of unprocessed foods. I think that the food industry must feel threatened. why would anyone care if other people.don't eat gluten or dairy or beans?

The paleo / low carb diet is absolutely the way to go. I've got weight loss and blood work to prove it. Ive lost 20 pounds, have way more energy and all my lipids are way down. Now when I eat carbs I feel like garbage.
