I drove by it today. I was surprised to see it there, because the initial news was that they were moving to Bennington.

Kiatisak Sanguanruang and Punnee Arsanathong bought the building at 4550 Concord Ave. for $625,000,

Thai Kitchen is moving because Sanguanruang wanted to own his restaurant instead of paying rent, Shaheen said, plus, there were parking issues in Southdowns Village.
Sanguanruang wanted to buy a building on Bennington Avenue, but the deal fell through. After that happened, Shaheen said they returned to the Concord Avenue property.

Parking issues such as the people going to the Bulldog?
Besides Wednesday nights, I wonder what the parking issues could be.

I really think they will lose out on business at that location. Not enough viability.

It's been a graveyard for sure but he has a big following and is the kind of place you will seek out.
I'll say this..if any place can make it in that location it is Thai Kitchen.
Plus he bought the building not leased so he certainly has a vested interest to make it work. I think he will and I am certainly going to patronize it.

I would advise against there.. Maybe he can make it, but that's a weird location that has doomed lots of businesses, and I'm predicting they won't get the Friday night karaoke crowd they used to

What has that building been over the years? I remember it was a bar for a lil while that completely flipped.

Originally it was Ruby's, the predecessor to George's under the overpass.

This location is not ideal for the business. Traffic is terrible on College. Plus, the building is block directly by Whitney bank.

quote:No. It ain't ideal, but it will do well there. People who already go to TK will go to the new one. And it ain't like they have a ton of competition, as far as Thai food. Frankly, a lot of people will discover it for the first time. A many others, like myself, will rediscover it. Bitch will be busy.

Truthfully, the visibility at the old location kinda sucked. More so than the new location.
Parking is limited at the new location. This is particularly surprising that they chose this location, since they cited parking issues as a major reason for moving. I guess people will park across the street and walk over. I recall people doing that all the time when Phil's was there. Like a minimum of 10 cars.

Don & Meg Gerald were there for 5-6 years as Cippriani's which was a terrific restaurant.

I agree with this. I'd be shocked if they didn't do well.
I'm a fan of Thai Kitchen. They do some dishes very well.

I heard Sam, the owner of TK. really wanted the location next Gino's on Bennington, but the guy who owns that property wanted too much. Deal fell thru. Plenty of parking over there......
