Do the people you're buying for shoot, mix or sip tequila?

That would be a better way of determining what is worth your money.

I don't drink, but my Mexican buddies are big on 1800 and Cazadores.

technically all tequila is fom the blue agave plant.

I prefer the taste of anejo's personally, which is oakier due to its aging in barrels

1800 is a good bang for your buck tequila. no where near the best out there, but you won't do much better at that price point

Ah...so they don't really like tequila, they just like seeing their dinner twice in one night.

The Gran Centenario I mentioned earlier is a great reposado that can be shot or used in mixed drinks, like margaritas, palomas, and sangritas. It's what I keep around my place for margaritas.

Corralejo reposado is another great jack of all trade tequila. For around 30 bucks, really undervalued.

If you really want to give them something to shoot, look into mezcal. Del Maguey Chichicapa is ok, but for around 60 bucks of this firewater, you might not have a friend any longer.

My friends like it.

I don't buy it as a gift, though, only because the brand itself is a little played out.
