Beef ribs and yard bird. I almost glistened while I cooked. Did some eggplant, too.

Bacon wrapped boneless/skinless chicken thigh over pasta salad. Enjoyed an ice cold corona with it.

here's how the pumpkin chicken curry w/ butternut squash turned out

browned chicken

onion, ginger root, red bell pepper, garlic

added chicken broth, coconut milk and pumpkin puree and simmered (seasoning = curry powder, cumin, coriander, salt, pepper)

added chicken + butternut squash

done

Ended up making myself a ribeye, Asian brussel sprouts, and a blue cheese wedge salad :)

a Mikdao review from Yelp:

quote:

Fish is not fresh. I literally gagged when I took a bite into the escolar. Tuna was frozen and chewy texture; they offered a discount on all fish (assuming the fish need to be sold?!). Volcano roll was OK, but not worth $15. Bill was $50 for rainbow roll, volcano roll, & tuna tataki appetizer! Outrage! They are definitely overpriced for a small town like Monroe, and especially for a new restaurant. Average price for a specialty roll was $15. Seaweed salad that is normally $4 was $7, edamame usually $4 was $6-$7! What!? Price gouging!

Jones would be sad. This is his favorite meal :(

Did the ribeye in the cast iron though.

I sauteed a bunch of gai lan from Hong Kong Market in some garlic black bean sauce and rice wine. And served it with a side of Popeye's. Seriously.

did you ever use the asian brussel sprout recipe I posted or are you still using that other one? (can't remember the poster's name).

I didn't eat the sushi. It's not as bad as the writer suggests, but good sushi...really good sushi...is not available in Mecca right now.

Still used the other one I had all the ingredients!

Came out perfect. A good med-rare. Some people might consider it between rare and med-rare.

No photo..

I didn't get a super dark sear because the cast iron wasn't hot enough yet and you people are harsh
... Already packed away in the fridge anyway because I'm small and ate 1/4 of my ribeye.

In addition to knowing how to cook gumbo, I also know how to brown chicken.
