Going to smoke a whole duck tonight. What have you done that has worked well?

Anyone tried putting bacon slices on top of it while smoking it?

Not necessary as it has a lot of fat as it is. Season as you like and smoke to 165*.

Wild or tame? If wild, what type and is it fat? Is the skin on?

I'm not even sure. Just picked it up at HeB. Does have skin on.

I went ahead and rubbed it down with maple syrup and brown sugar on the outside. We'll see how this turns out...

It'll be fine and likely has plenty of fat. Wild ducks can be done in 1-1.5 hours. That domestic may take a bit longer. Watch it close. And add some salt and pepper or a Cajun seasoning.

You think the Cajun seasoning on the skin will go well with the syrup and brown sugar?

And I appreciate the response. I'm about to throw it on in a few minutes here
